Overall, I strongly recommend Hector: Badge of Carnage to anyone who doesn't mind their comedy getting a little bit filthy.

A fun and satisfying conclusion to TellTale's darkest adventure game franchise.

Beyond Reasonable Doom, along with the whole Hector trilogy, is hilarious and well worth a look for any fan of British humour or classic adventure games.
  4. Oct 7, 2011
This gritty and profane detective tale winds down to a sound conclusion.
  5. Oct 7, 2011
Overall, Beyond Reasonable Doom is a fitting finish to a strange but enjoyable trilogy.

Still funny and absurd; as ridiculous as it is clever. It is an interesting throwback to adventure games, creating an odd bunch of characters to interact with, even though it never properly demonstrates the danger that the town is said to be in.

It's not that this final episode of Hector: Badge of Carnage is bad, it just seems like the series has been on a downward slope since the first episode. The humor and animation continue to be strong, but the puzzle design goes limp at the end.

Hector: Badge of Carnage is a proof that Telltale Games knows a bit or two about mischief, and that Northern Ireland is home to talented foul-mouthed jokesmiths. Unfortunately, the combination of these two forces does not necessarily result in a brilliant adventure game.

Though this is a solid finale for an enjoyable trilogy of adventure games, it does feel a bit like playing through the final five hours of a good game that is exactly five hours too long. The freshness that the series initially offered is gone, replaced with predictability and a certain staleness.

As a whole, Hector: Badge of Carnage is an amusing little game that would hold some appeal to those who enjoy crass humor and simplistic gameplay. However, the game's shtick gets old after awhile, the jokes getting tired as time goes on.

    This is getting really old.

Episode 3 offers a somewhat satisfying conclusion to the goofy series but it's missing the varied locale and slapstick tong-in-cheek humor of its predecessors. Hector MUST return! Full Review »
