I don't like games, and I don't play much. I'm a movie reviewer and recently reviewed "Hitman" the movie. The movie was fine, so I thought to give the game a try. After the first 2 hours of gameplay, I knew I was in love with this. So, in "Hitman: Blood Money", You get to play as agent 47 and assassinate your targets. The killing method is all up to you; you can bash out guns and kill everybody or you could use gizimos to create distractions, then silently assassinate your target. Everything is up to YOU. They also provide you weapons you can buy as well as upgrades, which adds up to the assassin tone. The AI is very responsive or sometimes dumb, but you'll get over with it. Overall, it's one hell of a epic game; BUY IT!! Expand

This game is my personal pick for game of the year, yes, I actually think it is a better game than Oblivion(definitely second). If you thought previous Hitman games were pretty good or so-so(or even bad) this one is completely different and better in every way. Amazing levels, great (although simple) story, PERFECT music, the customization, and the multiple ways to kill people. In previous hitman games, it never really felt realistic, even in Contracts were there were multiple methods, there wasnt as many as there should have been. Each level is insanely replayable, so much that I started a new game RIGHT AFTER I beat this. There are some bugs, but they aren't really noticeable and don't get in the way. Oh, and this game has easily the best ending in any game I've ever seen (although you might miss it, you have to do something). Expand

Awesome game, on par with contracts for its time and well above the other two. Although the graphics changes were rather minimal, with a high dynamic range filter and nicer water and clothing effects, they still managed to polish up mighty fine. If they could just venture away from "get the person into a private room and kill them " approach for every mission like they did in the oprah house mission this would be a 10 out of 10 effort for sure. As a side note, i give the ending 1110, most games end crap, this end is very very awesome =P, leaves me craving hitman 5! Great game, on par with oblivion for best game of 06!! Expand

Terrible, atrocious excuse for a game, and an insult to a - so far - excellent series. Not only is it the worst Hitman game, but it's on par with such horrific messes as "Starship Troopers" (the 2005 shoot'em up, that is - not the superb 2000 strategy). No saving, constant crashes, innumerable bugs, horrible load times (does the talent-challenged doodler that designed the faces on load screens really think that I want to watch his drawings for 30 seconds after the level has already loaded?), wretched performance... plus the "hitman" looking like that night club bouncer that calls himself "vin diesel" these days. One of the best games I have ever played. The first hitman game was great but since then they have been lessons in how to make a game you really dont care about. Thank god IO have redemed themselves with the latest installment. Im not entirely sure why Jack J seems to have a problem maybe his inadequate system has caused him to post his frustrations on here and in the PS2 reviews as well. No saving? only on the hardest difficulty jacky boy. Anyway the game is just so damn satisfying even if your not orchestrating an ellaborate "accident". Just popping an unsuspecting victim in the skull and dumping his body over the side is so much fun. Visually the game is impressive and the scenes are so well thought out. A game im going to be playing over and over again. The game was so close to getting a 10 but its not perfect. Expand

Excellent game, but only those with patience and a brain should play. For those that are just looking to shoot things up, you may find the game difficult. For those of you used to playing Splinter Cell, you may find this game to be a little linear. For those of you with an open mind and a little background in the Hitman series, there's plenty of replay value. You can keep going back to try a different way to accomplish a mission. There are 2 major ways to accomplish a mission: A sneaky, your-own-way sort of approach, and then there's the cool way: For example, in one level, few players realize this, but the huge chandelier above the theater can be "detached" from it's winch. A carefully timed explosion at the top can cause the chandelier to crush your target, leaving minimal evidence behind. Try it sometime! Expand

This game is AWESOME! you can do whatever you want here, be a stealthy assassin, or crazy insane guy who kills everything. the Grapics are sweet too. If you like games that take a long time to beat, try putting it on expert or pro, instead of easy, that makes the game much more fun and realistic too so you have to think a bit harder about how to get the job done without anyone noticing you.

One of the greatest games I have played, Its graphics are good and the chalange to kill your target undetected but what i have noticed is that no one has mentioned the ability to actuly steel some ones suit to get to different places. I have heard some people ay that it is a stealth game and so on but it's supossed to be a good action game with some stealth and accurecy in your shooting but it covers the out line of an action game with alot of killing in the assasination's and things but what i say is the best is that part where you actuly use your head on you animal side to figure out how you want your client dead. well also when you actuly beat the game you can go back and start over and kill them a different way and kill them in a new way I have done it so can you. now if you like or should i say love action games then try this one this was the first hit man i have tried and I still love it and i decided to mak a review out of It well if you love thinking stealthy assasin games then give it a shot it's worth the money! A very impressive game. It requires you to think a bit more than most games, and a truly creative (or potentialy pshycotic killer, such as Hannibal Lectre) will have a blast wtih this. It requires quite a bit of patience in order to get things just right, or you could go crazy and mow everyone down. However, this game has absolutly no replay value, so I suggest that you rent it. However, when stuck inside for whatever reason, picking up a M4 and terrorizing an opera house or suburb is kinda fun... Expand

If Elder Scrolls Oblivion is the 2006 RPG Game of the Year, than Hitman: Blood Money is the 2006 Stealth/3rd Person Shooter Game of the Year. This game combines innovative killing methods with multiple possibilities, an open attitude toward playstyles and a great story with a fantastic ending. Whatever you do, don't try to find out what happens, just play the game and see for yourself. The missions actually get better and better as you go along so if you only play the first few, you're missing out on the best parts of the game. The customization of weapons and the variety of ways to kill make this the first Hitman title I won't immediately uninstall once I've beaten it. Expand

This is a great game, much more enjoyable either of the first 2. Graphics and sound, while not being Half Life 2 brilliant are still good and I suffered absolutely zero glitches. In fact this is one of the few games I've bought recently that ran without any bugs. Level design is pretty good though there is still a little too much getting lost while chasing around in indistinct corridors. There is a decent amount of variety in the missions themselves and most can be completed in FPS style if you want (my first run through the game I played this way) and playing stealthy is just as much fun - the first person view option is handy in big gun battles too, though his arm holding your weapon looks very poorly done. Weapons wise there is a nice selection and some of these are highly upgradeable. Overall a lot of fun to play but not overly memorable certainly not in the Far Cry league, but still good. Expand

The open-ended gameplay is enough to give this game 10, but with refined AI, grafix that can scale to low-end systems but at thier highest level offer incrediblely lifelike models, and replay value that cannot be beat. If you like to run into rooms and shoot everything this game is for you. If you like to observe your targets, pick your shots, and sneak up on unsuspecting victims and then impersonate them this game is also for you. Hitman Bloodmoney plays great, looks great and simply is a great game. An absolute work of art. You dont have be a fan of violence or the other hitman games to get into this. This is the best hitman of the serie to date, i don't understand why it have a 8/10 average rating like the first one, it deserve far more than that. But when you see the average rating of half-life 2 on metacritic (96%) while this is one of the most boring game that i have bought in my decades of game pratice, you relativize... To Jack J. reviewer that gave it a 0 because he doesn't know how to make his PC work, you should be ashamed... I have a middle range PC, loading times are about 3 seconds to load a level, i had not any single crash, nor visible bug if you except the movies wrong size that occured before patch 1.1 -released the same week than the game- and performance is excellent with all the eye-candy stuff turned on and with a more than decent resolution (1280x1024)... In a word, learn how to use or maintain your PC instead of whining that it is the game that doesn't work. This game deserve something equal or over a solid 9/10 - 90% rating, period. Expand

Very good game and i sugest it to everyone because it works well as a firstperson shooter or a stealthy assassin strategy.it would be a 10 out of 10 except for the fact that i beat the game the first night i had it. i'll admit i played it for about 6 hours straight but it was still too short. the ending is very good and i didnt get the secret the first time and had to go back for it. i also sugest you dont buy this game but that you rent it, because of how fast you will beat it. the missions might have a replay value for some people but i just get too bored after i've done everyone about 3 times. Only lowered it to a 9 because of the number of graphics glitches, and because each mission plays out in the exact same way each time.Every character has a scripted routine which they follow, and it gets all too repetetive. And as for graphics glitches...*shudders*...the most prominent and annoying one has to be the way the fibre wire goes through every characters' neck when you try to strangle them. Really ruins the atmosphere. Other than that, fantastic game. Expand

This is far better than any previous hitman game and is on-a-par with hitman 2. Our favorite 47 has had a bit of a face lift from hitman 3 and new technology has improved the game loads. The only problem with the game is that there are quite a few voice/movie glitchs which im sure eidos will fix therefore boosting my score to a 9. The levels increase in hardness as your progress through the game, but then, so does you weapon inventory! The weapons in this game are awsem and they make this the perfect game if your a wanabe-hitman (might want to re-think you job choice), if you like realism and if your a tactical player. You dont even need to use tactics because its easy enough just to blast through the levels and taste the blood splattered on your lips. Enjoy! Expand

Let me start off by saying I have never played any prior Hitman games. This game sparked my intrest because of the HDR and advanced AI. First off let met start with the amazing intro music. Something I have never heard done with stealth/fps game . For that I give it a 10. This game is not your average FPS shoot'em up game. Implimenting stealth ,patience, stratagey, and skill to compleate a mission. Most FPS games your concerened with your character and not the NPC. In this game the enviroment and your surroundings both for you and against you depending how you play a game. The upgrades on your weaponry add to the gameplay, unlike other FPS games which give you standard weapons per level. Having numerous weapons means, having numerous ways of killing and taking down your enemy and compleating your objectives. The voice overs and are clean crisp and with 5.1 surround sound or higher can greatly work to your advantage and immerse you into the game world. The Physics are very well done. Gameplay is well thoughtout. and replay is value of this game high. The loadtime are about 3-5 seconds I have never encountered any errors with the game, that include crashes bad installs, sound issues, video issues, or lockups. The game even supports widescreen monitors. Which is nice Sseeing how somw games don't support thand and your game play is stretched. Overall I give this a 10 all in all a wonerfull game I would suggest to any body in the FPS gaming world or to a person wanting to even use this game as a show peice for a gaming computer. Expand

In short, If you have not bought this game yet, do it immediately. If not GOTY this is for sure the game of the Summer ‘06. After Codename 47 I thought that I would never return to this franchise, but I could not be more wrong. Blood Money is an excellent example of continues improvement by Eidos. Finally the player cries have been heard. This game features the Hitman like game dynamics and simplified Splinter Cell stealth action. Now you can shoot people and light bulbs. Camera angle is greatly improved and the game also offer 1st person view for better aiming. Hand in hand combat and knife throwing are great features. Missions goal has still remained classis “hit and run”, however the mission execution is anything but linear. Each mission offers so many possibilities to execute the task. Whether you prefer the Rambo style – enter on the main door and unleash the fire power, or stealthy action using knife and silencer is all up to you. Mission maps give solution to any idea you may have. Playing tip #1: Set the game to hard or extreme hard. This won’t make the game any harder, it will only force you to be more disciplined when executing the mission, thus increasing the assassin- experience. Don’t be a “Trial-and –error” noob! Playing Tip #2: If you do something stupid and you have to restart the mission, take a break for about 15 min before starting the mission again. This will help you not to rush through “familiar” action, and the playing will still remain fun even if you just played it. Performance: 10 – no crushes, bugs, FPS issues… (New Orleans mission must have at least 500 people on the street, yet no FPS struggle) Graphics: solid 9.0 Sound and Music: 10.0 Game play: 9.0 Can’t believe the 83% rating, this is an easy 90%! I have played every Hitman scenario released so far and it's one of my favorite games. I discovered it as a bundle, got hooked and then I bought the expansion and follow-up. The only slight downside is the graphics, it's good (considering the years of release) but not great. I hope a future release of the series will have the same great game with some updated graphics engine.

Definitely worth playing. It serves as a great example of how games, if handled correctly, can be a perfectly legitimate form of art. It's great as a stealth game but the different styles of playing are great reasons to come back and try it again. It's a hell of a lot of fun, after you've earned a "Silent Assassin" rating, to go back and replay an old mission with a silenced shotgun. One of the very best games out there, especially if you can pump the visuals up. Expand

2011 and still coming back to this game. There are stealth games then there is this. I put this in its own category because unlike other stealth games in which you either hide in shadows/boxes/etc., in Hitman: Blood Money you can hide in shadows or "hide" in plain sight. Taking you full control of playing any type of hit man you desire to be. Of course the option of getting the biggest gun and shooting everything is sight is always there. Every time I play this game i find a new way to complete the objective or paths to take that it feels fresh. Great mechanics, great music, great environment, each level being completely different. Though of course it is not perfect. The NPC are not the smartest in the world and though the character models look good seems like they had only one male and one female model for the whole game. They just added new skins. Last thing I can complain about it is the controls, a bit of a learning curve. Expand

The best stealth game I have ever played. The graphics are still pretty great, even 5 years on. Makes all other Hitman games obsolete. I also love how many different ways there are to complete each mission, and how it's possible to complete the game without firing a single shot. There's no better feeling in a game than killing your targets by making them all look like accidents, and walking back out past security as though you were never there. The level of weapon customization is also pretty impressive, you can upgrade guns more than you can in CoD games. My only criticisms would be towards the quality of some of the character's faces (the game's also a few years old now, so that's understandable). I also found the main story to be not very compelling and weird, and above all, unnecessary. I mean, it's called Hitman, you don't really need more of an explanation for why you're doing the stuff you're doing. I also did find occasional errors where I would be detected even where there's no logical reason for it happening, and civilians being credited as witnesses, even though there were none. But again, these are just minor flaws in a pretty impressive package. If you even mildly liked the other Hitman games, you will LOVE this. Expand

Highly highly recommend this game! It really is an improvement on the previous titles, the sheer number of ways to carry out your goals is brilliant, the locations seem realistic and lively and the backstories and settings for your target add wonderful fluff to the game. The 'infamy meter' is also a fantastic addition to the gameplay, giving a sense of continuity to the missions and possible penalties for messing up a mission can bite you on the ass really is well done. The way the ranged weaponry is done could be improved however but if you're intending to go through running and gunning I think you're doing it wrong. So perhaps it is meant to deter you from doing that. Great game, get it. Expand

I think this game is the best hitman game to date because it added many innovations to the series like the accidents and the ability to buy weapon upgrades. It has a very good story but not as good as Hitman 2 Silent Assassin which in my opinion had the best story in the whole series. The graphics are good and the AI is one of the best AIs. I'm making an exception with this one, and it's definitely worth it.

There's a lot more focus on interaction with the level's environment in this Hitman than any of the others. The AI aren't randomly sparked off like the previous games either. If you've calculated your methodology, the execution is a piece of cake. You now get money for each mission and can use this to upgrade guns, rather than just buying them for each mission like in Codename 47 or not buying at all in Hitman 2 and Contracts. Soundtrack- as always with Hitman- is very suspensful and creates the desired atmosphere perfectly. The only real issue with this game is that there isn't enough ways to approach each mission. Having said that, the levels of difficulty and online leaderboards (which don't work anymore) make up for it. It's definitely a 7th generation Hitman. Expand

In my Top 10 Games of All Time, Hitman: Blood Money EASILY goes down as a 5th or 4th. Everything in the game just works perfectly, it almost flows like a ballet. Literally, everything down to graphic visuals, story, gameplay and soundtrack is top notch. Of course, that doesn't mean it's 100% perfect, for example the ragdoll physics and animations look a bit sloppy and every female and male character in the game shares the same body model. But ignoring that, it's one hell of a ride. I think what I enjoy most about Hitman: Blood Money, is the fact that it makes you FEEL like an assassin. Like a highly professional HITMAN. Every mission is unique and will keep you occupied for quite some time while you wander around in the area, thinking how you should kill your target. It's like being Sherlock Holmes, that is, if Sherlock Holmes was a homicidal brute. Music is great, exactly what you would expect from Jesper Kyd. Have to say, that opening with the raven sitting on a dead tree with Ave Maria playing in the background sucked me right into the game. Others may say that you have the choice of going in guns blazing, or being a silent sneaky murderer. Well, I have to say that's not quite true. When Eidos made Blood Money, I think they expected everyone to go in as a silent assassin and not shooting everything that moves. Trying to go into an area just roughing stuff up will prove quite difficult and will definitely kill you on the first 8 tries. Anyway, no matter how you twist it, Hitman: Blood Money is perhaps one of the most well-crafted video games ever and if you like stealth-based games, this one will be a 10/10 for you. Expand

  1. There's so much to do and see in this game, so many possibilities. It suits the careful player, but caters for the psychopath in you as well. You simply won't find a better executed execution game. [June 2006, p.86]
  2. With Eidos' latest foray into professional assassination, players will have to dig deep, wading through mission after mission of trial-and-error gameplay to hunt down a series of targets. [June 2006, p.49]
  3. While there's a lot to love about this series, and this entry in particular, Agent 47's world still foesn't offer the subtlety necessary for this great premise to really be satisfying. [June 2006, p.110]
