Despite its linearity, Kane & Lynch 2 offers memorable action sequences. There's a true visual identity, very efficient for conveying a brutal, ugly, reality that really captures our attention. Io Interactive was able to correct its original game, in order to deliver a visceral, life-like follow-up.
Great game. While it's not your typical third person shooter that's exactly what makes it stand out. Forget all the goofs trashing this game. They are all clearly COD boys who can't play anything unless it's laid out in front of them like a buffet. Play it. Like it.
Despite great visuals and an artistic direction I've personally enjoyed, the game reveals a poor single player campaign and an entertaining multiplayer that, unfortunately, won't probably last more than a week. With more attention to details, this game could have aimed to better results. At the moment is just one of the many 3rd person shooters where you have to cover and fire at the extinguishers.
If you can overcome the bareness of the enemy AI, not to mention unnecessary buttocks covered with blood, and brevity of the storyline, there's fun to be had. It has to be noted though, the entertainment only lasts if you have a friend to play and share the madness with.
As much fun as there is to be had in the multiplayer, it doesn't include any new developments or references to the game's main plot and suffers from the absence of its titular characters. The fact that the campaign only takes around five hours to compelete further fuels the sense Dog Days is an incomplete and flawed package.
I actually cannot think of a single positive thing to say about the game, and the fact that I have been rooting for this IP from the moment the first game was announced just makes it all the more infuriating. I wished nothing but the best for Kane & Lynch as a series, but the appalling nature of Dog Days confirms to me that this franchise will never be what it deserves to be.
This is one of the best online co-op campaign games I have played. If you enjoyed the co-op experiences of Gears of War and Left 4 Dead then I highly recommend this game.
Forget the hideous experience of the first game, that was the first game that I remembered that got the characterisation, graphics and story perfectly but forgot about the game play. Kane & Lynch Dog Days completely rebuilt the original game and has made it much more of a shooter as opposed to a squad based shooter with bad AI.
The graphics are brilliant, even though it would be nice to be able to turn off the you-tube-esque pixelisation. This does add to the overall atmosphere of the game though.
There is no score which sometimes bothers me, but this time it works, just using lots of ambient noise from around the city you are in.
The game is essentially a collection of battles but when played on the hardest setting with an appropriate friend this can be a truly visceral experience. Being held down by enemy fire whilst your buddy attempts to flank them is great fun. Bullets flying past your head can be heard in all corners of your surround sound.
The A.I. of the enemy is very good. Many times we would play a section through thinking we knew exactly what was going to happen and the enemy would surprise us by flanking us or coming from a different point of attack.
I truly enjoyed this title and look forward to the next adventures of this egregious pair.
I loved that thing, great TPS, doesn't cost much, ok history just to connect what happens in the game, action, classic cover thing and that's all, didn't do much, i did miss something different while playing, but it's totally enjoyable and worth playing, specially considering the low price it has on PC.
Well... I certainly don't understand the 0s. Or the 10s. Honestly it's a bit difficult to assign a number to Kane and Lynch 2... This game left a mark on me though.
This is a game I'd recommend you experience at least once. In short sessions (I'll get to that.) The story is pretty basic but more interesting than your average shooter. The characters are refreshingly repugnant. The settings are, by and large, varied and unique. The shooting is passable, not great, not bad. The enemy AI is on par for this generation.
This is more like experiencing a Michael Mann movie than playing a 3rd person shooter. That's not to say you will be watching more than playing -- you won't. But the scenes you'll play through are pretty raw and interesting to experience. They offer no reliability whatsoever so keep that in mind if you're considering paying more than $10 for a copy.
When I said play it in short sessions - I meant it. This game honestly made me motion sick a couple times. Not to the point of actually getting sick, but 100% to the point of needing to stop. I'd fault the game for it if some of the set pieces weren't so fantastic. Also there is an option to reduce the camera shake... which I'm dumb enough to have missed the first playthrough.
I was legit screaming at my TV in frustration just wanting it to end in the final 30 minutes (died over and over) but even that frustration combined with the average gameplay and bouts of mild nausea don't outweigh how much I appreciate gaming doing something this odd.
I wish they still did. $10 or less, do it. More than $10... well that's up to you.
I couldn't wait to finish this, so I could never play it again. Also, please turn off the camera motion in your settings to save yourself a nasty bathroom break.
No joke, this game plays as if Ed Wood made it. The absolute most wretched hit detection I have seen in a game involving guns. Insanely disorientating, at all times. Laughable voice acting, seemingly phoned in by several of the developer's angry uncles. I have not even attempted the multiplayer, too busy laughing my butt off at the single player campaign. Rent this P.O.S. to find out for yourself, you cannot possibly prepare for the laughs you will be having.
SummaryKane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a raw and brutal crime shooter designed to take players on an even more intense story experience, following two of gaming's most disturbed criminals, through the gritty Shanghai underworld.
