Legend of Dungeon is fun to play, but it's a game that you're unlikely to actually finish without trying a great number of times. And since you can't save your game, each attempt is a fresh start. The question is whether you'll continue to enjoy the game's randomness long enough to attempt it that many times.
Legend of Dungeon is a perfect gateway game for those interested in Roguelikes, but who are intimidated by them as well. The beat-em-up style to the core gameplay means that if you grew up with more TMNT playing in an arcade than RPGs, you’ll be comfortable right away.
hellhoundpro you need to grow up kid.this game is awesome and person who are not in "gaming" world will never understand the soul of this game, like many other games.Graphic is not everything now you have games with 20-40 even gb of hard disk space with story 5-10 hours max.
This game is masterpiece after some updates, and its addictive playing on 2 keyboards with 4 people
(you just need to know how to configure hotkeys correctly-2 players each keyboard).
I absolutely love this game. While it's fun for anyone to play, I think this game will resonate the most with people who are old enough to have played with the C64 when they were young. I think most of the reviewers are not really 'getting' it. It is also very reminiscent **** like Hack, with randomized dungeons, and all sorts of loot and potions to discover. It's old-school gaming, endless fun.
Developed on the base of rogue-like genre, Legend of Dungeon is designed for the arcade game and complex challenges lovers, where the skill is not enough if it's not also accompanied by a good dose of luck.
Stylistically this rogue-like/dungeon-crawler-mix is interesting, but the mechanics are too basic to keep you captivated over a longer period – even if you play together with three friends.
Legend of Dungeon is a nice, hard, random and funny "rogue-like". It may be less innovative than games like Rogue Legacy, but it is still cheap and offers a nice local multiplayer mode for four players.
Its a nice little game that is just a beautiful yet simple hack and slash where you don't have anything like classes or ability branches, but is reduced to the basic concept of wander a dungeon and collect loot. It also helps that you never really know what to expect in it the music is very special in the fact that it is randomly generated yet still very nice and dungeon runs can vary from finding a demon axe that does 80+ damage and increases movement speed, or finding a minotaur blocking your path to the next lower **** a very pixely game yet it still accomplishes a somewhat above average lighting engine. LoD is not only a fun to play game but fun to look at, its a very colorful game and it has a highly unique style and theme to it.
If you play it on your monitor it is 5 at best. Game is ok If you are into pixel art and not knowing what items do.
Then you play in VR it adds a lot, implementation is OK (not great follow camera causes slight motion sickness).+1
VR adds a lot to dungeon crawlers feeling of being in dark, gloomy place **** you in and +1 for that (can't wait for Diablo/Torchlight in VR).
The Good...
- Lots of play value. Since the game is quite difficult and relies on some randomness it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to beat this on their first play through.
- Nice variety of items and monsters
- Great pacing. New monsters, items and random NPC events are revealed in such a way that keeps the game interesting.
The Bad...
- Some people would complain that there isn't much difference in the look of the dungeon as your progress other than lighting. All rooms feel fairly similar.
- Currently there is no save feature... Which wouldn't be a problem other than a good run can last upwards of 4 hours. But apparently a save feature is something in the works though.
- Only local co-op.
Conclusion...
- Worth picking up. I certainly feel like I got my money's worth.
This game... it's something special. And not a "good" kind of special either. You see i've not played a game with the "dead-you're-gonna'-start-from-the-beginning" concept for a long while now, not since clock tower for the Snes which was a long time back lemme' tell you that.
But i guess i have to give this game the benefit of the doubt and give it a second chance.
For starters this game is hard to get into, you will die a LOT without reading some strategy guides, watching a gameplay video, or practicing a bit for yourself for a while.
It's a basic beat em' up concept with random loot. Unfortunately, weapons drop rarely (except for meaby one enemy) and that is what a game like this needs to survive for, i don't know like five more years without being completely forgotten by the community. Games like Borderlands 2, delver, spiral knights, tf2, and others rely on the comcept to survive long after their debut. For an example Tf2 was created nearly eight years ago (at least when this review was posted) but it's still going with a very large community still backing the nearly pointless game that is Valve's least interest.
Returning to Legend of dumbasses there isn't much more to be said, the graphics are appealing and the soundtrack is alright but not too majestic.
So here's the summary:
Pros:
1) Pixel graphics that are appealing
2) Random loot (however still not entertaining)
3) Nice soundtrack, weak however.
4) Multiplayer is the most fun you'll have with this game
Cons:
1) The random loot isn't getting this game anywhere... like.... wow.
2) Pretty much a clone of many other dungeon-crawling games
3) Multiplayer isn't very fun. And that is the BEST thing about this game!
4) A group of enemies are way too hard to beat.
5) Death occurs a lot even with the best gear obtainable
In short, this game is crap. It's not a game i would play for very long with other similar games like Delver and Terraria. But still, if you are gonna' waste time you might as well try this out.
So in other words this game earns the title: "Give me ten bucks and then i'll play it"
This game is terrible. Please ignore the majority of these positive reviews, most are written by people who created an account, reviewed this game immediately and then never did anything else. Sketchy A perfect ten with a review that is basically a commercial listing features Yeah ok nice try.
Anyway, I really wanted to like this game but other than the graphics theres nothing original or even worth mentioning. The combat is a step below flash games, the sound is nothing write home about and its just SO incredibly tedious and boring. Honestly the critics were gentle with this game. Avoid at all cost.
