Marlow Briggs is not a new experience nor is it original in any way. But the mix of games like Shadowman, Soul Reaver and God of War is well-composed and gives you a decent amount of fun for a reasonable price.
An underrated masterpiece. Most modern games wish they were this good. It’s good that we have a game so young yet so beautiful. I can’t believe there are 3 ultra instincts. I don’t wanna be voicing spoilers or nuthin but you’re neva gonna guess the voice of the mask of death YES that’s right @sdwelleart himself. (He’s a celebrity look it up on insta for proof) Mako Tsunami, known as Ryota Kajiki in the manga and Japanese versions, is a fisherman who wants to become the greatest fisherman ever in honor of his father, who died on a shipwreck (in the dub, Mako is searching for his long-lost father, who survived the shipwreck, indicated by a missing lifeboat). He uses mostly WATER-based cards in his Duel Monsters Deck. He came third in the Regional Duel Monsters Championship (Japanese National Duel Monsters Championship in the Japanese version).
I’ve never played this game, I got it for free. LEGALLY. It was on games with gold on the Xbox one. My buddy LQ likes it tho so imma represent him cuz he’s a real G.
Mako's first appearance is in the Duelist Kingdom arc, where he Duels Yugi Muto in a battleground near the sea. Due to the fact that his side of the field was water, all of his monsters gained power bonuses and they were able to hide themselves from attack. Therefore, Mako's monsters were able to devastate Yugi's monsters until Yugi played "Full Moon" to increase the ATK of his "Silver Fang". From here, he **** the moon with "Giant Solder of Stone", draining the sea and exposing Mako's monsters. Then he played "Curse of Dragon" which in combination with the "Burning Land" card, incinerated Mako's monsters and won Yugi the Duel.
His next appearance in the series is during the Battle City arc. It showed him trying to catch fish in the killer whale tank at Domino City Aquarium, where he was chewed out by the Domino City Aquarium worker, the killer whale's trainer. When the worker was too ill to perform the scheduled show, Mako volunteered to take her place, due to his bond with all sea creatures.
He was found at the show by Joey Wheeler who he Duels to determine which one of them will go to the playoffs. Using the Field Magic Card "Umi", Mako gains offensive and defensive bonuses for his monsters as well as hiding them. Eventually, Mako calls forth his "The Legendary Fisherman", who is immune to Magic Cards and monster assaults as long as "Umi" is on the field. To Mako, "The Legendary Fisherman" is the embodiment of his father and also what he aspires to be in life. Mako then Summons "Fortress Whale", whose power allows him to dominate the field. Joey eventually uses "Panther Warrior" in conjunction with the Equip Magic Card "Lightning Blade" in order to weaken the "Fortress Whale" as well as increase the power of the "Panther Warrior". Mako then used his "Legendary Fisherman" as a shield to protect his Life Points but with the removal of "Umi" via Joey's "Giant Trunade", it was easily destroyed, winning Joey the Duel. Joey won his "Fortress Whale", and Mako gave his "The Legendary Fisherman" to Joey as well to thank Joey. This is Mako's final Duel in the series. Mako was also the only Duelist Joey faced in tournament apart from Seto Kaiba that didn't cheat or twist the game to their own will.
Mako is shortly seen along with the rest of the Duelists during the semifinal match between Seto Kaiba and Yugi Muto, in which he marvels at the power of the Egyptian Gods "Obelisk the Tormentor" and "Slifer the Sky Dragon".
Es un juego deficiente en muchos aspectos, no obstante cumple con su cometido de entretener y puede llegar a ser divertido, recomendado si lo encuentran rebajado
This is absolutely not the blockbuster you are waiting for, but still it's an entertaining game that keeps you busy for a few hours. The action is there all the time and so are the many many clichés.
Stuffed full of big explosions, frantic combat and wilful bombast, Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is a surprisingly enjoyable action-adventure that remains just about competent enough throughout to justify the fun it has at the expense of its own genre.
It’s so resolute in its silliness, it’s also nearly impossible to dislike. Sure, its an imperfect game, but amidst the cynicism and midlife crises of other recent video gaming juggernauts, it was exactly the game I needed.
Apart from some death-by-bad-camera-angle moments and a few aggravating perfection-focused “challenge” sequences, Marlow Briggs is enjoyable enough. Just don’t expect to remember any of it next week.
I have to say this game impressed me, but not for its originality, as there isn't any, it's really a God of War/Dante's Inferno/Devil May Cry Rip off, and I knew that from the beginning, but for such a cheap game it's a ton of fun! I thought i would drop it after an hour or so, but it just kept on entertaining my cousin and I so that we couldn't stop playing it for hours and hours. Yes, it's easy; yes, it has some design flaws, but none actually game breaking, it's just that cheap game that will deliver on cheap fun and easy gamer score and is a serious contender for guilty pleasure of the moment.
For $15 this is a solid God of War rip-off. One that wastes no time getting to the action and never takes itself seriously. Anyone who's ever played GoW will feel right at home. Almost every gameplay element in this is highly derivative of Santa Monica Studio's hit series. Think of it like a lite version. This is never a game that's really going to test your ability. Instead it just wants you to revel in the slaughter. It's silly sense of humor and crazy action serve to at least give it a unique sense of style, sans the look of the protagonist. There's nice enemy variety and responsive combat. The hardest thing to deal with is the camera. It uses a fixed perspective, but the angles are odd which requires some getting used to.
If you're gonna steal from somebody, it might as well be the best. This is some Marlow Briggs does well. It's a short, breezy game. One that's more like a quick, sweet snack compared to the bigger action games out there that serve as full meals. There's some merit in that; you can get a nice sugar rush. Despite having an original bone in it's body, the game is worth a look. Not least of which is due to having an African-American protagonist. Still a rare occurrence in the gaming scene.
7.2/10
Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is nothing but a cheap imitation of God of War, Devil May Cry and the lackluster games Thor:God of Thunder/ Green Lantern the movie licensed games. The story starts off in a very generic way where the protagonist and his girlfriend are on vacation and then are ambushed by the main villain. What's worst is that the whole story is confusing. Gamers will ask themselves, WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHY? The characters are generic and easily forgettable! So where do I begin. Well first off, the gameplay is a copy cat of God of War and Devil May Cry, gameplay sections are too linear, there are multiple glitches that will cause gamers to restart from the previous checkpoints, the game is way too easy, boss battles are a joke, TOO MANY QUICK TIME EVENTS during gameplay, Static images tell the story most of the time, the voice acting is laughable, the jokes are bare bones, the graphics are average and the textures are in low resolution. Oh wait I am not done, enemies range from soldiers, demons and bugs, cheap enemies towards the end of the game which will cause gamers to die a lot, leveling up in this game has no effect which makes it is an ABSOLUTE joke and the ****!!! There are only TWO things that this game gets right. 1. Gamers can save their game at anytime and 2. Weapon variations are very fun to use for only a few hours. (Then it gets repetitive and boring!) As Angry Joe stated in his "Thor:God of Thunder" movie licensed game review..... "It's just one of those games, where you want to break your controller because it is so @#$%^&* lazy!" Oh to put the final nail to this PIECE OF #$%^! IT IS 4 HOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRSSS! @#$%THIS GAME!!!! Marlow Briggs **** on both PC and Xbox 360! Zootfly/505 games should be ashamed of themselves!
SummaryA new breed of Warrior emerges, committed to destroying the enemies of freedom. No-nonsense hero Marlow never shies away from danger or trouble. But now he faces his ultimate challenge. Blasting into Central America, he has an industrial evil to defeat while bound to an ancient Mayan Death Mask who’s had no-one to talk to for 2000 years.
