I’ve been lukewarm about most of Telltale’s games lately, but I really liked Guardians of the Galaxy. It handles the transition between jokes and drama well, your decisions are tougher and more meaningful than you usually see, the writing and voice acting are excellent, and the action sequences are simple and infrequent enough that they don’t derail the game. So if you haven’t played a Telltale game in a while, Guardians of the Galaxy is certainly one to check out.

A very funny game that will also give you feels. It will take you about nine hours to complete, and you’ll have a blast doing so.

Telltale’s premiere season for their take on the Guardians of the Galaxy proves to be an enjoyable one, as the stellar soundtrack and combat sequences prove to be the high points of the occasionally humorous adventure. A little fine tuning from the dialogue and engine could have gone a long way, but as it is, Telltale’s adaptation of the dysfunctional space family is one worth checking out for fans of the movies or comics, or those looking for a lighthearted sci-fi adventure.

There’s a lot of little details that reflect your past choices. You won’t notice them the first time around, of course, but you may very well miss them on subsequent playthroughs – they’re worked into narrative that well. On the flipside, we have same old shortcomings: worn-out engine and QTEs that serve no purpose but to check if the player is still there. [Issue#220, p.67]

The renowned but lately overused Telltale formula works with Guardians, but don’t expect it to be as entertaining as the movies. The direction is spot on, the story is okay, but lacks the punch.

Telltale has barely changed their interactive story approach for Guardians of the Galaxy, but that’s not such a bad thing. With a solid application of humor, fun combat sequences, and a well-realised cast, they have forged a bold space adventure.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a series that doesn't change in any way the Telltale's style. The game mixes the comicality of the brand with a more adult and sentimental side, a choice that can be appreciated by a lot of players, but not by all of them. Anyway the title is definitely a good purchase for all those loving the Marvel's galactic heroes and the narrative style of the Californian developers.

Saw Telltale wasStumbled upon Guardians with their MCU debut which happen to be probably my favorite Marvel movies out of all MCU entries. Saw Telltale was about make GotG series and was excited. Now that i have finished all 5 episodes i can gladly say, yeah theyre pretty good. In some areas feeling even better than movies themselves to be honest which served as a reference point for me since im not familiar with comics.

Voice acting is top notch, i would even say Nolan North makes a better Rocket than the Hangover guy, all guardians are nicely designed aswell, btw game's Gamora is so much more likeable than Zoe Saldana's portrayal, with no disprespect to the actress, i can almost say the same about rest of the cast, except maybe Peter, somehow he's the only one sticking out as bit of a sore thumb.

Story feels good and interesting, if only Hala is bit lacking as main antagonist, shes ok, but you dont really see her that often during episodes, just in brief encounters and she's gone. As always choices in such games are just illusions right, but in these series they felt bit more impactful than usual in Telltale games, but it might just be me, also theyre nicely satisfying.

On technical side game isnt without faults, there's some animation issues, when you start new episode game shows in its ''previously'' teaser choices you did not made in previous episode, luckily its just that, it doesnt screw with your save file and your actual choices are kept, if you run game with Low rendering quality, in episodes 4 and 5 there are 2 sections where game froze up on my PC, as a fix i found the game must be run in High render quality to pass these sections, annoying, but not game breaking stuff.
