  1. Every brilliant little detail of N4 serves to remind you, over and over again, that this is a sim of real class.
  2. Hmm, let’s see: Incredible graphics, terrific sound, flawless game play and great multiplayer options must add up to a game that should be on any racing sim fan’s shelf.
  3. The finest racing simulation on the market today - bar none. [Apr 2001, p.70]
  4. This is a simulator in the truest sense. As I've mentioned innumerable times, this game is detailed and realistic. It does allow you to create races that are suited to your ability. Simply put, the better you get, the harder you make the racing.

If you want the most detailed, most accurate simulation of NASCAR racing and even multiplayer up to 43 drivers, NASCAR 4 is the only obvious choice and the game deserves to be a best seller, but only if they patch the AI!
  6. An enthusiastic and ambitious project that is worthy of any oval lover's attention. Minor blemishes aside, it is easily the finest stock car sim available and quite possibly the best racing game to date.
  7. Graphically the game is astounding! This is easily the best-looking racing title on the PC this year.
  8. Superior simulation of the nail-baiting sport of stock racing, with amazingly realistic physics matched by a sublime 3D engine. [Feb 2003, p.94]
  9. A few problems do exist, such as unrelenting, almost perfect AI drivers and some graphical glitches, but as a whole product, this is the NASCAR simulation to own.
  10. Make no mistake, NASCAR Racing 4 is a great game, but if Papyrus would put its experience into something besides graphics and driving models, the next NASCAR Racing would be much better.
  11. What differentiates "NASCAR Racing 4" from the many racing games on the market? In a word, it's detail.
  12. At first, I was so taken in by the new physics, sound, and overall look that some of those faults didn't bother me...With some more work, especially on the AI and damage modeling, we could have a real winner here, but as it stands, a great driving model wrapped in a far less than satisfactory overall experience just doesn't quite make the grade.
  13. While I still personally prefer "NASCAR Heat," as a pure racing simulation NASCAR Racing 4 wins hands down. If you love this sport, this is a title which you simply cannot miss.
  14. This game will definitely bring a smile to your face when that black number three bumps you, just before he takes the lead away from you on your last lap at Daytona.

OK - So I gave nr2003 another shot. turns out all you need is a really good setup and know how to turn on 'stability'. The sim is pretty realistic. N4 - I still hold hte same thoughts - easy to get behind the seat and race with but with the sierra board closed, multiplayer is only done by IP. Game is the best in the series. So much so I have designed a league around it.http://www.geocities.com/fodigo@sbcglobal.net/N4_Nites.html Tried, 2003- didn't like it. The AI was too great which made for some difficult driving. 02 was just teh same. If you want a game that is quick to learn and fun to drive, N4 has got them all beat. Full Review »
