  • Summary: NEStalgia is an original MORPG inspired by the glory days of traditional console RPGs. Essentially "Dragon Warrior 3 meets World of Warcraft", NEStalgia is an amalgam of the best generations of RPG gaming.
Players wage classic turn based battles in multiplayer parties while
enjoying modern trappings such as a full-featured quest system. Those who prefer to go solo can recruit almost any monster in the game to fight alongside them as they explore every nook and cranny of NEStalgia's expansive 8-bit world. Expand

Nestalgia is an anachronistic MMORPG, an interesting experiment designed by a great and inspired indie team. Great for older NES-style fans, uninteresting for the youngest players. If you were born before 1989, you'll love it.

It's basically a Dragon Warrior clone from the late 80's with an MMO aspect. I found it to be a charming throwback to the original JRPG days. It's very easy to get into and grouping is quite seamless so while it is challenging it's very smooth. The multiplayer turn based combat system is pretty good and entertaining. If you liked old school RPG's like Dragon Warrior you will be pleasantly surprised. Collapse

fun game, random diablo style drops in a dragon warrior style game. after playing on a server for a week or two, everyone leaves the server, and it turns from the MMO you thought you were getting into a single player game. seeing how there is plenty of similar single player abandonware out there, don't bother with it. Unless you like endless grinding to level up and get the items money and companions you need, just to have the server be vacated. Then you can start all over again on a new server. Expand

This is basically an NES dragon quest game with the charm sucked out of it. The gameplay is boring and only really appeals to nostalgia, and the writing is bad, even for a MMO. The art ranges from boring to decent at times, but never captures the same feeling of the games that NEStalgia is copying. Finally, a lifetime subscription based game, the game has gone over a year at times without content updates.

The community and moderation team is also abhorrent and any criticism against the game will result in you getting shouted down if not temp banned. The game's creator has released personal information about a subscriber who was criticising the game on an off-site forum.

If you're feeling the itch for a classic RPG, This won't scratch it.

I bought this game expecting to be brought to a time that RPG's were simpler... Simple about explains it. This game just barely passes as a lazy example of devs using the term "nostalgia" as a excuse for poor game design, and lack of a budget for art.

Oh well, it's $12 that I'll never get back.
