  • Summary: A real-time trading simulation featuring elements of construction and the historical background of maritime trade in the North European area between London and Novgorod during the 1300's. As a citizen of a medieval town, the aim of the game is to rise from the status of a simple trader to that of a big businessman and perhaps to the head of the Hanseatic League. 1. One of the best strategy titles of the year…an out-and-out classic. [Feb 2002, p.65]
  2. This game is truly a remarkable trade sim, and the number options available to you through the course of this game is staggering. While the game is not without it's problems, they are easy to overlook in light of the many strong points of the game.

The downside to this aspect of the game is that (as mentioned) it can be downright frustrating to get to the point where you are actually even a minor 'player' on this regional stage.
  4. It has a depth few games of this genre can match. Fewer still can equal the level of micromanagement. [Feb 2002, p.92]

The most complex and interesting trading game I've ever played. I agree with the others that the learning curve is steep, but you can enjoy it along the way. Expand
