  • Summary: Ideas of territorial gameplay and landscape modification introduced in the original RTS game are now realized on a new concept & technology level. The VistaGame Engine enhances the dynamics and depth of gameplay, turning the battlefield into an arena for the confrontation of two elements - ground and water. The story of Perimeter 2 continues the events from the original game. The Exodus, lead by the wise Spirits, have been searching for the New Earth. The Harkback have lost faith in the Spirits, overthrown their rule, and decided to head back for the Old Earth, not believing its death. Both sides took the final step on their way, but the chain has closed and mortal enemies entered the same planet face to face. The revolutionary concept of terra-forming, along with new elements and fresh ideas, is sure to provide a unique gaming experience. Newly introduced Action-elements: players can enter the battle using the Providence - a Tactical Manipulator of Direct Action - and its super attacks: such as huge explosions, meteor showers, and more. Newly introduced RPG-elements: players can dig the gaming maps in search of psy-crystals that are used to unlock and upgrade Providence's super attacks. Furthermore, psy-crystals unlock important secrets about the past of New Earth. Exodus - the greatest expedition in the history of mankind, has reached its goal. But does it mean the end of suffering? And if New Earth is a trap, what price will it cost? [Strategy First] Expand

What was once a fresh and innovative design now feels like every other generic RTS ever made.
  2. Gameplay becomes redundant quickly. It's very unbalanced.
  3. Sadly, this sequel is a lesser game in almost every way. [May 2009, p.68]
  4. The maps are boring, units weedy, AI absent, trooper non-responsive, graphics dire, sound effects pathetic, music repetitive, resource gathering system incomprehensible, and the storyline, as mentioned, is woeful. [Aug 2009, p.75]

Agreed the game isn't as good as the first but thats what you get from a high expectation sequal! The game isn't perfect but can be fun - my only real regret for the game is the totally and i mean TOTALLY useless AI - if they're flooded they don't care, they will charge headfirst into your turrets and ust die out making the campaign laughably easy. Apart from that i've seen worse. Expand

This game is seriously a joke. Graphics out of 2003, a GUI that is more confusing than James Joyce, gameplay that has basically nothing in common with the predecessor, balancing that was obviously by randomly guessing and a story that can at best be described as "there." Do not buy this, do not even rent it. It is seriously not worth your time. Expand

it's a re branded, dumbed down, ugly, buggy version of maelstrom, The game play is spammy and dull, the interface a mess, the graphics utterly basic, visual and aesthetic design is unimaginably boring an low-poly... If it wasn't for the begging cut-scene (re-used from the original perimeter) it'd be unrecognizable. A huge step back from the masterpiece released in 2004 in every conceivable way (even visually). This is an awful game. A lot simpler than the first game in the series, but sadly they also removed all of the fun. The units are bland and basically small, medium and large versions of the same idea, the bases generic, and every match plays basically identically to each other. I expected this to at least be decent, but it didn't even manage to be mediocre. Expand
