  • Summary: Prisoner of War captures the intrigue, danger and heroism of Allied escape attempts from prisoner of war camps during World War II, including Colditz - the Germans highest security "escape-proof" camp. Gameplay delivers a tense 3rd person stealth adventure game where bravery, stealth and cunning will win the day. [Codemasters] Expand

  1. A very good 3rd person sneaker filled with action, suspense, and with enough missions to hold you attention for several days.
  2. Would have benefited from a little more graphical polish, but the weather and lighting effects do create a strong atmosphere. [Dec 2002, p.122]

Drawn out, trial and error driven missions, sloppy control, twitchy camerawork, and somewhat lax artistic polish prevent Prisoner of War from ever becoming what it aspired to be. The scope was grand, but the final draft, a bit unpolished.
  4. With outdated graphics that showcase choppy animations and low-resolution textures, and below average audio, plagued by horrible voice acting, the game’s presentation fails.

After I completed all 5 chapters, I thought: Prisoner of War is the perfect stealth game.

Great sound, great idea and a great game. Mouse sensetitvity can be annoying, and enemy A.I is generally very good. The graphics meet the average to great standard. All in all a good ww2 game. Expand

I've only made it to the 2nd chapter, but I am already bored. Getting through each level involves little more than learning the proper path to take in the camp, and then learning how to avoid being spotted by guards. That's pretty much it. Graphics are good and the voice acting is decent. Just a little too tedious for my tastes. Expand
