  1. Prototype is one of the best games to release this generation and is definitely the best game to drop in 2009 (so far). Outside of the lackluster stealth and disguising mechanic, the brutal combat, huge open-world, varied challenges, and utterly satisfying gameplay makes this a must-have title for any serious gamer's collection. Get ready to put your life on hold!
  2. Although it’s beset by blandish graphics and wickedly uneven difficulty, Prototype delivers a fast-paced, relentlessly amoral and wonderfully brutal sandbox adventure in a detailed city filled with cool things to see and do.
  3. This open-world action game set in Manhattan is proof that even viral outbreaks can be incredibly fun if they're done right.
  4. It is absolutely the best game for wasting away those hot summer days. If you’re a fan of superhero games or just love gratuitous violence, you can’t go wrong with Prototype.
  5. Motivating until the very end thanks to Alex' many skills. However there could be more detail in the graphics, the side missions are repetitive, and the AI could be much better. All in all a fun game, though.
  6. It may not be the most good-looking or exciting action game ever, but few games convey the feel of a dying city which is at the mercy of a single creature.
  7. Prototype isn’t the type of game that shines despite of all it’s flaws. No, Prototype is the kind of game that surprises us that it isn’t in a worse shape just because of all it’s shortcomings. A mediocre game that tried so hard to be cool that it got lost in shallowness.

This game is perfect, great gameplay, great wonderful story, and gives a lot of replay value, i would recommend it to anyone, even as a rental, its something every gamer who ever wished they could tear the sh!t out of anyone/anything should try. Be warned! it does have a lot of gore so its not something to be played near children ages 1-12 since they may cause nightmares. Expand

This game knows it priorities. It puts FUN at the top of its list and makes no concessions. It never forgets that its primary focus is to entertain and as such it never penalizes the player or arbitrarily restricts you. It gives you the abilities to create believable chaos in the world's most recognizable city from the get-go and only rewards you with greater control, destruction, and finesse as the game goes on. Nor does it sacrifice subtleties. The small touches in terms of animation, ambient sound and art design generate a believable atmosphere of a slowly decaying metropolis. Disregard statements of poor controls or performance problems- I have a mid level PC and play with keyboard and mouse and the game is a dream to play on high settings. These comments are not written naively I have been playing games of all genres consistently for the past 20 years and own all three current gen systems as well as a self-built pc, and I can honestly say that this game is one of the most fun titles I have ever played. Buy it, play it, you won't be disappointed. One of my favorite all time games. Expand

Perhaps one of the best games I have ever played. Although its in NY and has similar game mechanics as Spiderman, it make Spiderman look like dirt. Graphics are just detailed enough so it looks good but doesn't destroy frame rate on a 8800gt. I get 45+ fps with like 60+ characters on the screen and the entire city of of NY. with choppers flying around and explosions going off. Expand

Very nice.... but its hard to get to the ending without being tired. Basic core is a mix between assassin creed (with the ability to reach every inch of the map, stealth-kill the enemies, carrying on numerous -and all similar- submission) and GTAs (tank-elicopter driving, firearms, ecc). Point is, in the end you are doing always the same thing and once you get a grip of the story and of the power it start being repetitive. Visuals are ok, so the acting; no soundtrack worth mentioning. A very good game, but not a masterpiece. Worth its 25 Expand

It's good, not-so-clean, mindless fun; it's a gory version of GTA without the story and elaborate atmosphere, but it packs in a lot more hack&slash action. The graphics are nothing to write home about, lightweight enough to run on older cards with ease, but detailed enough to make this worth-while. Expand

Extremely horrible port, does not work properly (not even with user-made fixes) at all and never saw a single patch, despite all the "known issues". This game should not be bought AT ALL! Expand
