  • Summary: You are hired by the wealthy family of a recently deceased billionaire to search for the last will and testament of their late relative, Duncan Walter Adams, who was “eccentric” to say the least. He has hidden the deed to his riches in one of the safes scattered in his magnificent mansion. The deceased billionaire also happened to be an avid safe collector and you have been hired to crack all 35 of them! The stakes are high and the clues are scarce. You will need your experience, wits, deductive reasoning and puzzle solving skills to earn your pay check. [Adventure Company] Expand

  1. The measure of a puzzle game is not, of course, how pretty it looks or how convincing it sounds. The measure is how well it plays. I am happy to report that Safecracker 2006 plays beautifully. There are some familiar puzzles, some unfamiliar puzzles, and some very clever twists on the whole idea of what constitutes a puzzle.
  2. Safecracker strips away all the narrative hoo-hah of traditional adventure games and tosses you into a labyrinth of mind-benders that range from simple sliding puzzles(requiring extreme patience)to code-breakers that throw you with unexpected twists. [Nov. 2006, p.120]
  3. A must-have for puzzle fans and definitely worth a look for anyone who values an intellectual challenge.
  4. If you or your family like your games with a healthy dose of mental gymnastics then Safecracker is a pretty good bet, and isn’t too bad value for the money.
  5. 69
It's a good thing Safecracker has a number of entertaining puzzles, because it has little else.
  6. So that's basically it. If you enjoy your puzzle games and like to work your brain on challenges ranging from simple to break-the-desk frustrating, then Safecracker might just be for you.
  7. Safe and very sorry. [July 2007, p.77]

This game had me playing it for a while. I'm not usually into puzzle games, for example Myst, but I was determined to beat this one despite the rather 'easy' approach the developers took to a storyline. All in all, this game was fun while it lasted. I wish I could have had a bigger payoff for all of my safecracking at the end, but it was still worth the satisfaction I got after completing each puzzle. Expand

Not bad... Played it though without stopping. Took aprox. 8 hrs. There are a wide variety of logic, numerical, visual and situational puzzles. I rather enjoyed solving them, and had a tangible sense of accomplishment after completing all of them. Collapse

A straight puzzler. Not terribly difficult, I beat it in 3-4 hours. Beautiful, creative environments, generally bland puzzles involving letters, numbers, or combinations therein. Safecracker is an accurate title. Puzzles almost as exciting as an IQ test. Expand

"Safecracker: The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure" is certainly not the ultimate puzzle adventure, but it's interesting and it's worth a couple of hours from your time. Expand

Safecracker is a good puzzle game if you can actually get it working. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, you must run the game in windowed mode. I also had to set a my screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 before launching the game. Additionally I had to Force Vsync On and set SLI mode to single GPU support. Figuring all of that out was a puzzle in itself so WELL DONE developers!

Game play is your basic point-and-click with mouse look, very similar to Myst style games. There are many different types of safes in the game and each one generally offers a unique experience keeping the game entertaining and fresh throughout. There are a couple easy puzzles, but most of them require some level of thinking to conquer. There are some that may even require consultation of a walkthrough. Puzzle gamers will definitely be rewarded by picking this one up.
