  • Summary: Wei Shen's story continues in Year of the Snake as he rejoins the ranks of the Hong Kong Police Department in a series of new missions set immediately after the main game. A vicious end-of-the-world cult is taking root in the back streets of Hong Kong... the Cult of the Snake. Hell-bent on cleansing the city of its evils, they cannot be negotiated with as they pursue a path to their righteous salvation. With an arsenal of weapons, including teargas guns and electroshock pistols, new outfits and abilities, Wei must enter a race against the clock to bring the cultists to justice before Judgment Day. It's a mixed bag. [May 2003, p.111]

If you appreciated the two previous DLCs, you should also like this one: it has maybe less personality, but a little more substance, and there's enough content for the low price. The Sleeping Dogs formula is becoming a bit tired, though.

I underestimated DLCs..... after 50 hours of gritty Hong Kong fighting I thought I was done with Sleeping Dogs and had completed all it had to offer... but no. This and the Swat missions gave my old game new life. Thanks for the awesome add-on UFG! Expand

Incredibly boring. Year of the Snake brings next to nothing new to the table, and yet it takes away so much. Say goodbye to all the moves and upgrades you earned in the main game and say hello to a crappy stun gun and useless tear gas launcher. Use the stun gun to stun enemies for a few seconds so you can deal with other guys. Let me tell you, it sucks and is completely useless. The tear gas launcher is even worse. The gas itself has no effect on enemies except when you shoot the canister directly at them so it hits them directly. You get to drive around in cop cars, in cop uniforms and arrest people. The missions are super repetitive and none of them are fun. This is a completely generic DLC that you should definitely pass on unless you want the achievements associated with it. Expand

Year of the snake is the last dlc for United Fronts Sleeping Dogs. Unlike The Zodiac tournament and Nightmare in North Point missions in Year of the Snake are little bit more diverse and feature more than just fistfights.
This doesn't make it a lot better though, the story is at best forgettable and the missions themselves are bland. The new weapons and accessories don't add much either. If you are really starving for more sleeping dogs you could play this but i would rather replay some of the missions from the main campaign.
