The world is beautifully rendered and is capable of giving a wide variety of thematic maps and the capability to drill down into any region. The sun and moon rotate around the earth, as mankind moves steadily forward below, all creating a great mood and setting for the game.
  2. Creating a superpower from Haiti isn't an easy task but it sure was a fun run, I recommend SuperPower2 to people that like world simulations or to people that wish they could run any country on earth in anyway they see fit.
  3. The number of options, the good graphics for the globe and almost limitless gameplay adds up a game that is worthy of United Nations attention.
  4. Traditional strategic and war gamers alike will be in heaven with the wealth of features to tweak and manage as you carve out your destiny in the real world-based computer simulation.
  5. I found myself to be bewildered by the erratic actions of the artifical intelligence as opposed to being genuinely upset. If you are looking for what would happen in a truly crazy world, SuperPower 2 will let you relive that very well and leave you walking away genuinely pleased.

Although the gameplay is confusing and disorientating, the game as a whole is a nice package. It has great presenation with a simple, straightfoward interface, and the overall atmosphere gives off a nice world domination feeling.
  7. A better multiplayer title then anything in the strategy/world domination genre that has gone before, once you get past the rather shoddy original design interface.
  8. If you're looking for a game that's going to keep you on the edge of your seat, keep looking. This one is definitely not for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy a game that will severely challenge your intellect (or you happen to hold a doctorate in economics or politics), then I heartily recommend this one.
  9. Suffers from a complete lack of polish, numerous bugs and crashes, and unintelligent AI.
  10. The gameplay wears a bit thin when you realize trying to accomplish real-life goals just isn't very interesting.
  11. Even while you know that the game isn't the least bit realistic, you keep playing just to see what sort of craziness will happen next. But the novelty of curiosities like Fiji spying on Denmark fades in just a few hours, and when it does, you'll reach for the uninstall icon.
  12. Like anything this complex, it is by turns brilliant, incredibly frustrating and boring. There's too much information to cope with. [Christmas 2004, p.111]
  13. 45
Much that was important in a global simulation has been left out; and much that's included is bug-ridden, inactive, confusing or unbalanced.
  14. The sandbox play that makes up the bulk of Superpower 2 is alternately tedium and lunacy. [Feb 2005, p.70]
  15. Far from exciting so even the studious may lose their adoration over time.
  16. Less a game than a geopolitical simulator of a bizarre, parallel Earth. Try not to hurt yourself while rushing out to the store to pick up your copy.
  17. Long stretches of boredom punctuated by brief moments of implausibility. [Feb 2005, p.84]
  18. The much-touted "realism" vanishes entirely once you get to the military phase of the game. [March 2005, p.87]
  19. 20
A bunch of pointless hand-waving in a half-hearted attempt to pawn off a ponderous spreadsheet as a game.

This game is awesome. It has the perfect balance between all three spheres, Politics, Military and Economy. The economic 'engine' is great, it is hard to understand fully, but isn't needed to function your economy. It is very easy to manage your country, opposed to a game such as Rulers of Nations which has a bad interface, Super Power 2's is much better and organized. Even now (2011) servers go up regularly and there is an active forum, http://www.golemlabs.com/community/index.php. You must get the patch 1.4. This game is awesome, it is a must buy for people interested in politics or history in any shape or form. Full Review »

Excelent game! I play it all the time just because i am into the whole geo-political kind of stuff. I would give this game a 10, but it uses starforce so unless you are the cable news kinda junkie who wants to bomb other countries I would not recomend this game to you because Starforce anti-pirating software is harmfull to your computer system, and thi game is loaded wit that kind of software. If you like burning music, do not buy this game, because NERO wont work with starforce. Full Review »
