What The Baconing lacks in deep RPG systems or kinetic combat, it compensates for with the darkness of the humour. This is the only action RPG we've ever played where we end up avoiding combat and talking to every bystander in town, rather than the opposite.

The Baconing is a good and fun game, similar to Deathspank: the fan will be pleased to find again all the elements that made it a success.

The game is repetitive but its ingenious absurd humor can keep you in front of the screen. [October, p.73]

Hothead may be pushing their luck, but there's life in the Hero to the Downtrodden yet.

Gameplay-wise, pretty solid Deathspank sequel. But the jokes are starting to get really boring. [October 2011, p.100]

Death Spank is still the action figure you love to have at your birthday party. He is quite funny but is obviously slowly heading towards retirement. [Oct 2011]

The Baconing is yet another strange tale of anti-hero DeathSpank you know so well from first two games. He hasn't changed a bit which means, that you can once again set out for short adventure full of sarcasm, anti-cliché jokes and slightly better than average gameplay. The Baconing will entertain you quite well for short period of time, but soon enough, jokes stops to be funny and gameplay turns in to an ordinary grind.

Good gags can't save this game from its repetitive combat and bland RPG-lite nature. [Nov 2011, p.126]

Wonderful visual style and art, sci-fi futuristic theme, it's funny and entertaining, just like the previous two games in the series. The core mechanics are almost the same. The combat is satisfying, there is a new blocking feature, which at least in my opinion is not that useful. The boss fights are somewhat frustrating, but manageable. Full Review »

No captions. unsuitable for hearing impaired and deaf people. Played 5 minutes and couldn't even understand what the heck the story is and what I need to do. Full Review »

The only thing more frustrating than this is finding out that lovely cake in front of you is actually one of those soap cakes. Yeah, not funny dialogue, annoying attempts at quirkiness, then basically dying lots. Full Review »
