The experience is remarkably evocative of the fairytale-like adventures of the King's Quest series, and nearly every facet of the game is remarkably well-executed.
Chains of Satinav is a great adventure game inspired in the magic world of The Dark Eye. We love its excellent argument, puzzle design and its old school style.

It was the best game i have ever played! I am a man but it literally made me cry in the end. I have never experienced such a beautiful story that i have felt to be a part of the whole time throughout the story.
I have played a lot of point and click games but this game takes the crown. Extremely pleased with it.
Simply a masterpiece!

Chains of Satinav isn't the cheapest game on the market, but with a good twelve or so hours of beautiful scenery and some great story and gameplay, I'd still recommend this one to adventure game fans.
Regardless of its technical shortcomings, CoS provides a superbly engaging story driven experience, that feels uniquely its own. When a story makes you care about its characters, it's a triumph, and in this, Chains of Satinav excels.
Just like inject some life into a paint, each location of this Dark Eye: Chain of Satinav is truly a work of art. It's a shame that the level of difficulty is so low in the majority of puzzles, but newcomers to the genre will be pleased. And hardcore adventurers will have their day with some clever puzzles too. A great graphic adventure that could've been a masterpiece of the genre.
Chains of Satinav boasts incredible artwork and atmosphere, though it's populated by weak characters that spoil some of the appeal.
Not counting those pauses and time spent scratching my head about obvious puzzles, The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav clocks in at around six to seven hours, which makes me balk a little at its $30 price. Comparatively, Walking Dead is $25 for the season of five two-hour episodes, and Resonance is $10 -- two adventure games you really should play this year. Satinav, on the other hand, carries with it a number of disclaimers that you need to be aware of before jumping into this fantasy adventure game.
Chains of Satinav is a solid adventure but nothing beyond that.
Visuals are very good in static, but in motion animations look quite ugly. Gameplay is the usual stuff of point-and-click adventures with addition of nice break/repair mechanics that felt a bit underused. Some of the puzzles and item interaction lacked logic, which is fine in a comedy game like Deponia, but here seemed out of place. Plot was ok, although twists were very predictable.
Overall I would recommend Chains of Satinav, but only to point-and-click adventure fans.

Another game that is great to look at, yet quickly forgotten due to its bland story and unremarkable characters.
The good:
- Superb backgrounds.
The bad:
- Animations
- Lack of atmospheric sounds. In fact, just a lack of atmosphere.
- Rhythm and clarity of the storytelling.
- English translation and acting.

The Dark Eye is a picture book that the player clicks through, and not much ****. Sometimes this can be okay, but all of the Daedalic titles seem to have bland stories and bad writing. Maybe this studio is targeting some kind of European audience, but I lost interest after a half hour of nothing happening.
