I'm a big time Vegas 1 player (mostly CO-OP). and I enjoy 2. I'll break it down like this. Its more of the same. With some great Addins and some strange changes. Likes. Extra Weapon in Co-op matchs. Sprinting. A.I. (crazy guys) Rewards and achievements Eye Candy (nice improvement) Dislikes. only 2 guys for Story Co-op!? (it was 4 before why drop it down?) No mini map?? Locked stuff!! I hate that!! Match making/network setup. It was bad before its not much better now. Expand

A few minor bugs, most commonly sound related, do not detract much from the online experience of this game. However the single player campaign I found to tedious to complete terrorist hunt however save single player from only lasting a couple of hours. more ranks could have been added and server favorites list would have been nice but alas we can't expect these issues to be fixed by a patch that will never come if Ubisoft goes down it normal course with PC games. overall though MP saves this game from a terrible score, with addicting fun and multiple game modes worth playing. An excellent shooter, alot better and improving gameplay over the last versions. But sometimes you end up dying, way to fast you start to go a little towards your enemies and then you get shot once and then you are dead, i would have rated 8, but alot of people rated it 0 because they dont know how to play tactical-shooter games, so it gets a 10.

I had fun playing vegas 2, although the multiplayer seemed a bit jittery at times. The voice acting in a couple of parts was F***ING FANTASTIC, like in the convention centre if you take the time to listen to what the terrorists are saying some of their quotes are funny as. Guns arn't that realistic and the AI is a bit run, gun, stop, turn, gun, etc. But all in all it was an enjoyable "relaxing" game Expand

This is at least as entertaining as "Rainbow Six Vegas" and even better. Small improvements in every category. Graphics are nicer. Controls and movement are smoother. The new customizable character is awesome and it does matter if you wear just a shirt and pants. Only downside I noticed is your teammates AI. Occasionally there's moments when they don't shoot the enemy. That';s annoying, especially you get killed cos of that. If the multiplayer works without bigger problems. This game deserves 9 points. As a game, not as an expansion pack. Expand

It's too bad most game programmers aren't gamers... then they'd rethink how it should be. R6Vegas has a lot of potential but they miss the big picture. It still is a fun game but Crysis is going to be hard to beat. Crysis missed the COOP play too... so much for any game being great!

RSV1 lover? You MUST get this. I defy anyone who has played the first game extensively to tell me that this one doesn't blow it's doors off. I loved the first game a lot and played it all the time for months after it came out. This is even better in just about every respect and adds a better points system in the ACES system. You can't love the first and not love this one even more, so if you did love the first you need this game. Expand

A really good game but too far from the previous rainbow six (rogue spear for example). High speed action, less tactic but a good story. Multiplayer is also good with mature players but crashes sometimes with some hardware components. I recommand this game for the story and the gameplay (similar to call of duty 4).

Overall good time with this game. I won't rate this game based on the differences between 'ye olde R6' games and this one. If you remove from the title 'Rainbow Six' and many of the connotations associated with the rest of the series, this game is a very fun shooter. The single player storyline leaves much to be desired, but this game really shines in online play. Terrorist hunt is probably one of the most fun co-op experiences you'll have in an online shooter. The AI is decent enough to provide a challenge, and the weapons/armor unlocks and upgrades allow for cool and endless customization. There aren't many games out there where you can die 20 times and still have a good time. Not for those who are die-hard tactical fans, but if you're an avid all-around FPS player, you won't be disappointed with this game. Expand

urther gameplay has prompted me to update my review. The game is simply broken to the point that it heavily interferes with gameplay. When you add a cover system to a game like this its always good to make sure it WORKS. At least every map I've played I've come across a wall that either gave my screen a seizure when I leaned on it or prevented me from moving in some way. Another thing that got me was... Did my ai teammate just kill me with friendly fire? Really, the ai that's more piss poor than l4d abd halo combined just friendly fired me?! I payed 10 dollars for this game it's worth about that, but for a full price I have to laugh at Ubisoft for even trying to peddle this crap. Still very entertaining if you can play T hunt with people Expand

Surely it's more of an updated Vegas 1 than real sequel. Yes, there's new story, few new ideas, bugfixes... In general it is better than its predecessor. The same situation happend with Left 4 Dead, the second game is better than first, but still - it feels just like a big update, not a new game. What to think about it? If you're a fan of Vegas, you will probably buy it anyway, just to enjoy new missions and new storyline. If you're a classical R6 fan, wishing the series would come back to it's hardcore tactical roots... It's not happening folks. For the newcomers - Rainbow Six: Vegas is a new take on R6 series. It's more approachable, less tactical. In general, it's an action game with a bit of teamwork and strategy. You control special ops team-leader and you squad consists of other two members. It's and FPS game with cover system and very basic giving orders mechanics. It's quick, enjoyable and very replayable game. After you finish campaign (not more than 6h of gameplay) you can fight in multiplayer, co-op or my favorite - terrorist hunt mode. There's plenty of weapons, armor and accessories to unlock if you want too. Overall - good game, iv played 30h and Im looking forward to play it more;) Expand

I've beaten just about everything in the game and with it's many faults, I still absolutely love it. The campaign is very replayable as there are many ways to approach the perilous rooms that it contains, but don't look for a very good story as the main villian is a whiny **** who generally makes no sense. Multiplayer is very high paced and has a counterstrike learning curve, in other words, you will die. The online gameplay also resembles what happened with the original Gears of War, as people choose to forsake the safety of the cover system for a more agressive run and gun tactic. This seems like a mistake at first, but eventually you will get the hang of it, just like Gears. Customization is really where it's at in this game as you can fully spec out your character from pants to gun attachments. It's almost endless selection of clothing, clothing camo, armor, and assecories. The many different armor types that you can choose also attribute to how many bullets you can shrug off or how fast you can run. I found my self chasing after each and every level so I could get that new piece of gear that would really finish off my guys look. Now the mistakes. The AI is completely useless compaired to modern day games as they are very predicatable and sometimes a bit glitchy. Environments are generally bland despite the locations having true potential which can be noticable as you pound through the campaign. Leveling takes ages and even forces you to either cheat your way up or just grind it out in terrorist hunt. Talking about terroist hunt, it's pretty damn difficult as the enemies immediately come at you in a storm and actively hunt you throughout the map. It's completely frustrating and it still remains as the only part of the game I haven't beaten. The character models are pretty bad also with the pretty much every character in the beginning character selection look like they had been hit repeatedly in the face with a very large hammer. This game has faults, but I still find myself playing it more that any other game I have ( I do have alot of games btw). They really have something here in terms of gameplay and customization so I would really look forward to the next R6 installment where they might iron the problems faced in this already satisfying title. It's not a bad game, but the cover system of Gears of War simply does not work on PC. But that's not my problem with it. My problem is that Ubisoft consolized this once great PC FPS series and made it into a rambo campaign. No more tactics are needed, the enemies are easy to take down, and it's not very satisfying. For us long time Rainbow Six fans, it's sad to see the series go down after Raven Shield, all because of Ubisoft's desire to appeal to the large run and gun crowd. Expand

Graphics are exactly the same as the original (if not worse). Multiplayer is completely broken, due to the extremely lousy server browser, which is more than uselss. The first game was great, but had the exact same multiplayer flaw: the difficulty of finding proper games. The "Sort by ping" feature doesn't exist and only of a fraction of the servers actually get a ping return.

Too many rehashed maps and awkward AI continues to be a problem. The multiplayer browsing system is from the stone age. Without the ability to name a server it's impossible to build a community, and the buggy server selection screens usually show a ping of "zero." Underwhelming, go play CoD4.

Still upset about the "To Be Continued" from the first I thought that the sequel would bring peace and more action. I was more then disgusted with it's graphics. Voice actiing severly decreased, and game play decreased. Graphics seem like they went down instead of up, very clearly on max settings and having the Desert Eagle out, it looked like something from an F.P.S. for the Atari! The story is simple thrown together and level design is bare and ugly. Weapon damage is unballanced and A.I. SEVERLY decreased. I was bord with it after two hours and it still (and probably will) remain(s) unfinished. 3 for theme. Expand

The terrorist hunt is a massive dissapointment after the heights of Raven Shield. A.I. is more agressive which is very welcome, but the fact that the enemies spawn as you play instead of all at the start of a round makes the terrorist hunt a simple exercise in exploiting spawnpoint mechanics instead of a true 'hunt' like in the earlier games. Silent and stealth play also makes no difference to the enemies' perception of where you are, a major flaw. Overall it's not too bad, and at least the firefights are exciting, but it's sad that Ubi have chosen to discard the hardcore tactical play which made the earlier games in the series (Raven Shield and prior) such a joy, and turned this one into a simple run-and-gun. Its so sad that it seems that R6Ravenshield will be the best game of the series. When I played the story mode through, I felt cheated because some of the maps were just taken from the older sixes, and just modded a little bit to look like different (well, in some cases not the whole map, but at least parts of it, OR the map was built of those stolen pieces taken from here and there). Walking into empty room and see how tangos appear from thin air and kill you... My money is stolen and I feel like I´m *ss raped. As a long term fan of the series I'm really sorry to say this but this game is pure bullsh*t. R.I.P R6 series. :( Expand

This Vegas 2 is more or less the same as Vegas 1 with improved graphics (not so much btw). Tbh it seems a bit a map pack more then a new game, prolly with this release the focus was all on multiplayer, as single player its quite flat corridor action based and really nothing more then first Vegas. Still ultra scripted so there is zero replayability, and the tactical approach is present only when opening a door. Cover system is still the same, not bad tbh, but in this release it seems to work a bit worse then in Vegas 1 prolly due to the fact there are more irregular objects around which can create some issues when trying to cover behind. The main problem in my opinion is that devs wanted to do something for the mass, looking as COD serie as inspiration, so they decided to cut out most of the tactical approach which was the core of the first games in serie, but sadly this title cant stand any chance compared to BF or COD serie in multi, and lost his fans as tactical shooter, so actually it has really not a specific place on the market imo. For a next time will be better to decide what kind of player please with the title, as this one fails a bit in every direction. Giving a 6 cause the game is not bad at all, especially now its easy to find it at super low prices, just its Vegas 1 with enhanced multiplayer support. Expand

Press F2 to change the control layout back to RB Vegas 2. Press F3 to change the control layout to the BF2 and the player can no longer be able to lean left or right, but able to prone. Press F4 to change the control layout to Splinter Cell's and the player be able to jump up and do a Splinter-legs in a narrow hallway and between walls, or be able to dro drop and break necks with their twisting knees and thighs (scissors) ... but may be you're only dreaming? The "recon" game we call Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has a lot of smoothing out to do. It's hard to control your teammates at times. And I find the AI either too weak, or absurdly broken. And not every single aspect of the game is very utilized or focused very well. You will get into the habit of sticking with specific gears and methods when playing this game. Definitely lacking build-up and smoothing out. Expand

Single player game is actually quite good but some missing controls over teammates make playing sometimes desperate. Simultaneous takedowns are practically impossible, teammates have some problems if you order them to shoot through window and game would need rule of engagement mode named sure-shot, where teammates would shoot only if they were sure about 1 shot kill

An arcade shooter. Gone is the intelligent suspenseful tactical approach. There are few tense moments and it's like a glorified shooting gallery, even on the hardest setting. The real kicker is when you kill a bad guy, sometimes a victory trumpet(!!!) will sound and you're told you just got awarded higher status, like "private" or whatever. Very tacky and totally takes you out of the immersion. Vegas 1 is a far superior game if you're into tactical approach and don't want a duck gallery. Expand

  1. Hopefully Ubi shakes things up for a third instalment however, because the current trend is going to result in something downright style and mediocre for Vegas 3.
  2. Fun with friends, but folds like a nervous poker player in single play. Genuine chances need to be taken for the threequel to succeed. [May 2008, p.102]
  3. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 isn't terribly exciting when played alone, but it is solid when you go online.
