The graphics are a match for anything else on the market, and the game doesn't need a supercomputer to run it.
  2. Every weapon that was in "Unreal" has been given a total facelift for Unreal Tournament. Everything has been totally redrawn and textured - the overall look of the weapons is quite impressive.
  3. A first person shooter loaded with astounding maps, diverse game styles, great weapons, and the best bots in the business.
  4. UT is a great game thanks to a combination of excellent level design, weapon balancing, intelligent bots, option tweaking, and numerous play modes.

A title that is as close to flawless as I've ever seen, both in its ability to entertain and in its finely honed technology and presentation.
  6. The smartest, best looking, all around coolest action game -- ever.
  7. Everything in the game is utter perfection. Whether you're in it for the single player quest or the online extravaganza Unreal Tournament doesn't have what you need -- IT IS what you need.
  8. Rises above the rest with its solid multiplayer performance, from its good weapon balance to its great level design...The most complete first-person shooter available.
  9. With all of the play modes, excellent multi-player setup, great graphics, and absolutely amazing level design, this game stands high as a shining example of what a first person shooter should be.
  10. 94
The mutators, bots, teams, and sheer number of maps give the game an awesome depth and replayability.
  11. Everything about Unreal Tournament is spectacular and in your face.
  12. Not really a revolutionary game, but it is almost perfect at what it does. This is the definitive straight multi-player first person shooter. It is an amazing game that never fails to impress or entertain.
  13. A new generation, looking a lot prettier, playing a lot smoother, and sounding a lot better, but with very little innovation.
  14. One of the most enjoyable single-player and multiplayer action games ever. [Feb 2000, p.92]

But what separates UT from Quake 3 is its glossy presentation...Audio in UT is also superb.
  16. All of this is bundled with an intuitive Windows-style GUI, a painless point-and-tap process for connecting to online matches, and some of the nicest graphical wrapping gamers are going to see this Christmas.
  17. The combination of several dozen professionally designed levels, competitive bots, and entertaining game modes will be hard for DM enthusiasts to resist.
  18. What fantastic level design! It is impeccable and superb.
  19. Though UT isn’t supporting the curved surfaces like Quake III, the texture quality is excellent and the lighting is unparalleled.
  20. If you play only one FPS this year, it will probably be "Quake 3," but if you play two FPS games this year, give Unreal Tournament a try.
  21. Without better DM map design, more polished graphics and artwork and maybe more panache in the weapons design department, we don't feel that Unreal Tournament is quite ready to earn our seal of approval as the uber-shooter to carry gaming into the next millennium.

Best fps I have ever played. Its so much fun I'm still playing it. Its still alive and this is 2009. That's how good this game is. While its way more alive in Europe and South America than North America its still a flourishing game, depending on the mod. Team deathmatch, ctf, 125 speed ctf, and ig. This game is definitely still going. Full Review »
  2. Why Epic cannot come close to this masterpiece again is beyond me. Solid. Clean. Fun. Maybe I am biased; this is the first PC game I ever played. I will admit I spent more time playing 2k4, but only because I enjoyed the single player campaign a little more, bots seemed slightly more intelligent. 2k4 was simply the next best thing. 2k3 and UT3 do not touch this. When I played this game first time it was on Celeron 300A+ VGA4MB and it worked! Very dynamic gameplay with variety of interesting and balanced weapons, very good maps for DM, good AI, good graphics. What is more it's very moddable - you can use mutators to change game rules diametrically, or use mods (there are tens of them) to play something totally different. Full Review »
