  1. One of the better RTS games we’ve played that at least tries to avoid the clichés that have riddled this genre for so long. Kudos goes to the developers, if not huge profits.
  2. 80
This is a worthwhile RTS that deserves more than to be upstaged by higher profile games, neither of which has battle zeppelins.
  3. The only major issue I had with the game was the inability to garrison units inside buildings. While the title may bring more similarities than innovation to the genre, it is certainly a high-quality offering with a solid multiplayer portion and excellent replay value.
  4. All in all, if you enjoy a good RTS and are looking for a unique take on the tired WWII genre, War-Front Turning Point is worth the purchase price and your valuable time.

Sure, it’s more burger and fries than filet mignon. But it’s a really good burger and fries.

A fine real-time strategy game that fans of the genre should gain plenty of enjoyment from, despite adding little that's new to the genre, other than an original alternate history scenario that makes for some distinct and memorable units to command.

Lack of sparkling originality aside, Warfront is an enjoyable game. [May 2007, p.62]
  8. 78
While the game is fun, I've still found myself wanting to play other titles that are out and about right now that offer a bit more.
  9. What may be one of the year’s sleeper surprises, though, is the way in which War Front: Turning Point picks and combines elements from all these franchises, presenting a final product that ultimately incites the senses.

War Front is a solid and entertaining game, though far less original than it purports to be. [May 2007, p.62]
  11. Unfortunately, the number of players in multiplayer is small.
  12. A pretty fun RTS with some interesting units and story elements. However, the game still ends up being a little derivative and runs together with a lot of other titles in the genre.
  13. War Front: Turning Point is a decidedly different take on the WWII real-time strategy game, complete with jetpack Nazis and freeze rays.
  14. War Front: Turning Point never tries to reinvent the wheel – it simply does a good job of mimicking the conventions of real-time strategy games that have come before it and puts it into a very comfortable setting.
  15. War Front: Turning Point won’t turn the RTS world on its ear, but if you’re looking for an RTS in the traditional mold you should take it for a spin.
  16. The game is enjoyable. Unfortunately, aside from the mix of fantasy and historical truth, there is little to make this game stand apart from other WWII RTS games.
  17. The pattern of play - building a base, waging war - has ended up as middle-of-the-road as a Tiger on a country lane. [June 2007, p.88]
  18. Overall, War Front isn't a spectacular game and achieves average scores on most criteria. However, die-hard RTS fans may find the campaign suitably entertaining and worth the purchase price.
  19. Bonus points for finally taking World War 2 in a different direction, Digital Reality. Much of the basics are intact here and make for some worthy game time. Now lose the gawky first-person mode, make the AI respond properly to enemy action, and give your viewers a macroscopic view of how this alternate history is affecting those beyond the battlefield.
  20. Its quick learning curve and devilish AI seem designed to appeal to the hardest of hardcore RTS fans. But it's just these sorts of fans who may be most weary of this somewhat derivative - though surprisingly solid title.

A game that has enough personality to stand above the crowd, at least until its audience tires of its regurgitated gameplay mechanics.
  22. 70
Certainly far from being groundbreaking, but if it’s an old-school RTS you’re looking for, then this may be worth checking out.
  23. Comment on the solid but surprise-free multiplayer mode recognising that most buyers will never touch it.
  24. The game blends historical reality and sci-fi elements really well, and while its gameplay is perhaps too comfortably familiar, the inclusion of high-tech future weapons makes the experience diverting.
  25. It's unfortunate when such a beautiful well designed game falls victim to stale gameplay. This game is definitely worth playing, It just lacks replayability.

Apart from throwing in a fair few wacky units converted from steampunk, like ice-spitting Rooski tanks and jetpack-wearing Nazis, and wrapping the game in the counter-factual, War Front is about as unique as a new series calling itself "How Clean is Your Wife?" [June 2007, p.75]
  27. 60
A collection of good ideas with muddled execution.
  28. 50
It turns out that War Front wants to do...something...online between missions, and because it can't do whatever that is, the game just crashes.

I mostly agree with Steele X's review. I actually enjoyed this game because it has an entertaining story (if some what cheesy), 3 I mostly agree with Steele X's review. Most of all I enjoyed the game's story how there is no Hitler and the Russians are the bad guys. Full Review »
