World of Goo's mix of ingenious physics-based puzzles and witty, colorful presentation make it a game almost everyone should check out. It goes by fast -- you can get through most of the puzzles in 5-6 hours -- but for $20, there's little excuse not to check out this World.
  2. Play it, and be happy. [Dec 2008, p.57]

And, for you PC gamers, World of Goo is without a doubt one of the best indie titles on Steam (or for other forms of digital distribution). The game features charming animate balls of goo, a refreshingly fun gameplay concept, and some of the best puzzling available on either platform.
  4. 100
World of Goo falls into a special category that only a select few games fall into. Do you remember when you first got your hands on Super Mario 64, the excitement that oozed out of you when you picked up the pad and controlled Mario around in 3D for the first time? Or when you were pulling out the Master Sword from its stone placement in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? These were special moments in a gamer’s life and playing World of Goo deserves to be placed alongside such events.
  5. Easily one of the best games released this year, World of Goo is a game you should not miss.
  6. Very few games achieve instant classic status, and are as fun and rewarding like World of Goo and in the end those three things make Goo a must buy for those fans who love gaming.
  7. One of the best puzzle releases in the recent history of video games.
  8. Puzzle genre is reinvented in the magical world of the Goo.
  9. A delightful puzzle classic. [Dec 2008, p.78]
  10. Indie gaming's finest hour and the best puzzle game since "Lemmings." Easy on the eyes, your system and your wallet - it's a triumph. [Christmas 2008, p.94]
  11. This is truly ‘the little game that could’ - a recommended download for anyone who has played anything similar and just not beaten the habit.
  12. Delightfully simple, delightfully replayable – the laws of statics have never been this much fun. [Issue#17]
  13. The members of 2D Boy should be carried around in chariots while this glory lasts - because at some point, they're going to realise what a murderously high standard they've set for themselves, and run away forever.

World of Goo is an amazing downloadable PC game that you simply must buy. It's packed full of brilliant, challenging levels. It's gorgeous. It's got beautiful music. And it controls really well.
  15. Innovative, addictive, and delightfully weird, World of Goo is a superb puzzle game.
  16. Anyone not buying it right now is making an idiotic mistake. [Dec 2008, p.66]
  17. World of Goo is a revolutionary and independent game that uses creativity to take advantage of the physics engine. A stunning, beatutiful title that will allow you to experience the true power behind the most elastic creatures ever seen in the videogame industry.
  18. One of the many factors that elevate WoG beyond mere construction puzzles is the excellent physics engine.
  19. A masterpiece of a puzzle game, one that raises the bar for an entire genre. Filled with varied exciting levels, strong art design and a stirring soundtrack, this is one game to be remembered for a long, long time.
  20. After the fascinating demo-version, the full version is more than able to satisfy the wishes of the gamer. Every level will confront you with numerous new ideas and brainteasers, … boredom simply does not come up in World of Goo.

In a gaming world populated by companies able to throw millions of pounds at tired franchises that sell on their name alone and where genuine innovation and fresh ideas should be welcomed with open arms, there's no better game to throw your weight behind than World of Goo. If more titles were made with this much passion the gaming world would be a much nicer, although possibly gooier, place.
  22. Engrossing puzzle games featuring balls are a dime a dozen. But this one is different, believe me. This one is exceptional. [Dec 2008]

The various goo and the "physical" aspect of the game. However the game have alot situations where speed is off the essence and in this area the really lacks. The GUI for interacting with the goo is really bad. If you miss a goo alittle you risk ripping the structure appart and. It might be intented that precise mouse points gooes moving about a web is more importent than the "overall idea of structure" but it ruined the game for me. Full Review »
