Zeit is a really ambitious take on the side scrolling shoot 'em up genre. The game's difficulty can throw a few players off, but the game takes time to master.

A meditative, unworldly, overly formulaic shoot 'em up. It won't keep you occupied for hours, but it's nice enough to help you kill time until Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet arrives.

Zeit Squared is a fairly generic-looking shooter, partially saved by an interesting game mechanic: rewinding time. I haven't played a shooter like this, and it's fun to shift outside of the genre's comfort zone into a more strategic and cerebral game. I just wish there was more here.

Brings innovation to a stagnant genre, but not perfection. [Apr 2011, p.69]

  1. Moderately entertaining shooter held back by horrible DRM. The time travel mechanic is somewhat interesting but the overall impression is mediocre. Nothing special overall, but not awful either. Expand
