  • Summary: Developed by Spark Unlimited, a newly formed studio comprised of 27 of the individuals who developed titles in the "Medal of Honor" series, Call of Duty: Finest Hour is a separate and distinct game from the PC first-person shooter. It features a unique storyline, missions and battlefield environments; intense battlefield conflicts; unsung heroes fighting as part of a crack squad through the chaos of battle; playable perspectives from three different allied sides -- American, British, and Russian; authentic weapons, vehicles, environments, combat missions and the real sounds of war. 1. What singles out this series from the rest is that it homes in on the sheer intensity and ugliness of war.
  2. Another brilliant PS2 first-person shooter. Boasting realism, originality and variety in equal measure - it's the premium choice for Medal of Honor fans this year. [PSM2]
  3. It's a blaster dressed in perfect olive greens that makes previous "Medal Of Honor" games seem slightly robotic and soulless in comparison.
  4. Going into and out of some of WWII’s most intense battles will keep you coming back for more. If you can get by the average graphics and a couple of A.I. wobbles you’ll have a great time playing this game.

The game will take you about eight hours to beat and it will entertain you for most all of that time. Maybe it was the character jumping or maybe it was the generic feel the game puts out, but I just couldn't really get into this one.
  6. It's more than equal to any of the console "Medal of Honor" titles, although we're desperately hoping that developers will now give it some time to truly shake up the genre a little and bring some new ideas to the table.

But playing this game live on the console systems lacks the finesse and speed to which you're accustomed. Lag is apparent everywhere, from watching other players float across the ground to empting an entire magazine into a foe at close range with no effect.

CoD Finest Hour is the best CoD in the entire franchise! Better than CoD4 if I must add! Here's hoping that Activision will release an HD makeover of the game in the future! Expand

To those of you who hate any CoD games out there.: While I agree that the modern warfare games are not my thing, STOP HATING the older games just because the second game did better. I prefer games with a historical realism. My grandfather was a navigator on a B-17 Flying Fortress. Your hater rating is deemed invalid. Expand

A good game, able to compete with the other major shooters at the time, like MOH, but brings nothing new to the table and has many points where you die multiple times with little progress. These choke points are a problem, but all around a good fps Expand

The Call of Duty series works by a process of devolution. To put it bluntly, old series rules, new one sucks. The characters are okay, not the best. Sam Rivers could have had more missions. The gunfighting is god, it really is. It's actually challenging. The German are competent. They game is intriguing and offers awide variety of levels. Not to mention a cameo from ACDC's Brian Johnson. Marks the last of the truly great COD Series before it went down the muddy multiplayer hill. Expand

This was not a bad first person shooter for PlayStation 2, however the game-play was not very good and levels could become frustrating. If you need to play a World War Two FPS on PS2, go for Big Red One. Expand

Call of Duty is a well known series of FPS games, while I'm still pretty new to the series (this being the forth one in the series I've played) I have to say this is the worst yet, the graphics are ugly even for a PS2 game, the sound is passable, and I have a problem with the feel of the controls, the main problems are that the checkpoints suck, which can make this frustratingly difficult, and it really doesn't do anything new, it's just a Medal of Honor: Frontline rip off, it does have some cool locations to fight in though and a lot of WWII weapons to use and a pretty good story, but the flaws I stated earlier and the fact that it no longer has online multiplayer makes this a game I can't recommend, but if your into the genre or are a huge Call of Duty fan you may find some enjoyment in it, but most others will hate this.
