  • Summary: Experience all the excitement and danger of fighting blazing fires in Firefighter F.D.18. As a firefighter, break down doors with axes, use high-powered fire hoses to smother flames, and avoid collapsing floors while looking for trapped civilians. Firefighter F.D. 18 pushes the PlayStation2's graphic capabilities to its limits and captures all the realism and experiences of real life firefighters. The most realistic firefighting experience ever in a video game. Fight infernos with water hoses, fire extinguishers, and other equipment. Realistic depictions of fire, including backdrafts and chemical explosions. A rich story that revolves around the themes of love and justice. [Konami] Expand

  1. I really didn’t know what to expect going in, I mean, “How fun can spraying water at fire be?” Turns out its pretty darn fun and compelling.
  2. Fighting fires instead of more typical corporeal opponents is certainly a refreshing change, but the gameplay can't make entirely good on Firefighter's unique concept.
  3. The pressure and redundancy might annoy some gamers, but it looks and feels appropriately hectic - and it's a morally upstanding, heroically-themed videogame. [Apr 2004, p.40]
  4. Rather from the bold, unique effort I hoped it would be, it's a weak, contrived bore that never gets off the ground. A four alarm blaze? More like a soggy day-old campfire.

  1. My all time favorite game. This is a must have for any PS2 owner. I was completely enthralled the entire time I played this game. This is a game that is easy to love. The graphics still hold up well even today, the missions are downright fun and the hazardous environment around you makes the gameplay never have a dull moment.
The only bad thing I have to say about this game is the item selection screen. I wish they had implemented hot keys so I wouldn't need to pause the game every time I needed to use the Fire Axe.
