Godzilla fans deserve better than this. Unleashed isn't pretty, isn't compelling, and isn't nearly as fun as stepping into the skin of giant monsters should be. Everything about the game is phoned in. That said, my four-year-old nephews have a blast with it.
  2. There just doesn't seem to be any real effort involved in this production, and if that's the case, we probably shouldn't be rewarding poor performance. That's just the logical consumer talking.
  3. PSM3 Magazine UK
Dreadful graphics and poor fighting mechanics. [Apr 2008, p.83]
  4. The visuals are below average, even for the PlayStation 2's standards; the classic Godzilla theme music never plays, with a stale rock soundtrack in its place; the controls are mere tap-tap combos with little involvement; the game is horribly overpriced; and the fighter selection is paltry, with only a few monstrosities to choose from.
  5. Godzilla: Unleashed seems like it could be a surprising hit for kids. There's no real reason to get this game with all the other awesome fighters out there, but it is easy for children.
  6. Simply put, Godzilla Unleashed is a stinker.
  7. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK
A big, stodgy pudding of a beat-'em-up that lacks any punch or bite. [Mar 2008, p.82]
  8. Godzilla Unleashed has all the makings of a good monster fighting game and none of the content
  9. Much like any Uwe Boll movie, an impressive cast can't change the fact that the settings are unremarkable, the monsters control and fight lamely; without a decent fighting engine or satisfying destruction element, it fails on all fronts. This has all been done better elsewhere years ago.
  10. Godzilla Unleashed lacks the vibrant, larger-than-life, destructive mayhem of other Godzilla titles, and there really aren't enough redeeming qualities otherwise to warrant a purchase…or even a rental.
  11. Unleashed is the worst thing to happen to Godzilla since getting killed by Mothra's babies.
  12. AceGamez
Godzilla Unleashed is a latter-generation PS2 title arriving just in time for Christmas - it doesn't play well, it doesn't look good and it doesn't offer anything new.
  13. Something to avoid like nuclear waste, Godzilla: Unleashed suffers from hideous gameplay, Neolithic graphics, no depth whatsoever, and shoddy design all-round. If you want to torture somebody then buy them this for their birthday.

Aside from the nostalgia factor, Godzilla: Unleashed doesn’t have much else going for it.
  15. It presented me with a story mode that was random and poorly voiced, where I would win every round, no matter what I did. The game's controls weren't very strong, and so I learned what a poor port of a Wii game is like.
  16. Godzilla: Unleashed is not a game I can see myself purposefully playing again.
  17. Godzilla Unleashed is a bad game. There’s really no way around saying it.
  18. There is nothing here for anyone - not even the most ardent of Godzilla fans. It’s like if someone took your favourite ever franchise, made a half-arsed game out of it then spat in your face asking for money.
