  1. A very dull experience. You can't help but feel this might have actually been all right as a light gun game.
  2. Not only have they taken the 40 year legacy of James Bond way off track, but they have also taken the classic GoldenEye reputation and created a game that the fans were dreading. Not a classic ' not even an average game, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is just about insulting to everyone in the target demographic.
  3. Formulaic, stitched together and delivered bang on time for Christmas, it's hard not to view this as anything other than a cold turkey that won't be enjoyed during the festive period.
  4. The game doesn't look great, the AI is poor and the special powers are worthless. Even if you take away these problems you're left with a basic first person shooter that is nothing special.

A Bond game without Bond just doesn't make sense, especially when the bad-guy gimmick fails miserably.

The amount of recycling involved in the level design here is abominable -- some areas repeat the same pair of linked rooms as many as three times in rapid succession, and the problem gets distinctly worse as the game progresses into its later levels. There's rarely an organic, realistic feel to most of the interior stages.

We're cataclysmically disappointed that Rogue Agent even exists. Just when it seemed like EA had pulled its socks up and become a real unstoppable force with games to match its resources, we get this ' perhaps the most cynical and cobbled-together excuse for a key release we've ever seen. [Christmas 2004, p.111]
  8. Rogue Agent ticks all the boxes on the shooter checklist, but lacks any of the oomph needed to make these worthy of note. Unlike the beautiful set pieces of other Bond games and movies, the levels within are about as exciting as a visit to your local public library.

An average shooter for the PS2. Honestly, I can't recommend this title. Nothing about the game is outstanding in any way. The gameplay isAn average shooter for the PS2. Honestly, I can't recommend this title. Nothing about the game is outstanding in any way. The gameplay is somewhat enjoyable, but repetitive. The graphics and presentation are the game's strong point, however, some of the environments are very dark and unappealing. The story is uninspired and by the numbers. The character is supposed to be a James Bond villain. However, you never get a chance to take on the MI6 and James Bond. Instead, the game pits you against Dr.No, while working for Goldfinger. The levels are long and laborious. Laborious because in every level we do the same-kill,kill and kill!!!This is action game where you openly fight against armies of different villains. You can use many weapons-and many of them you can have in both hands. You can also use some special powers by your Goldeneye. This game is one huge extermination of your enemies.Graphic is average (when you see ps2 standatrds) and music is quite good background to this mayhem.
If you like stealth games like Metal Gear Sold or Splinter Cell-than you should forget about this game.
If you like use gadgets and missions with different goals(like in many other Bond games)-you should be prepare for repetetive gameplay when your obligation is to kill and destroy everything which is hostile.
The plot is quite interesting, especially when you are Bond fan. Game is right now (today is 13.9.2014) very, very cheap(about 2$ for playstation 2). For this money -this huge amount of acion and bond universe
plot it can be another interesting position in your collection.
