There are gobs of customization options for each of your squad (and lord knows you'll need 'em), but there's not much variety to the goings on, and the whole Grand Prix affair won't take you much more than 8 hours or so. Multiplayer offers some extended usage, but not enough to keep it a long-term rotation.
  2. I see a repetitive game without enough options to justify even a rental, let alone a pricey purchase. Robots deserve much better treatment than this game provides, particularly those rare racing robots.
  3. If you can make it past IGPX's terrible presentation and steep learning curve, you just might find an inexplicably satisfying mech-combat racing game.
  4. For a game that is part racing and part fighting, the fact that the only real racing is the last ten seconds of each “race” really is a downer.

    The racing portion of the game takes a backseat to combat, which is problem in and of itself, but both aspects lack refinement.

  12. IGPX never ascends above the label of a quick and dirty fan-service. It has its place, certainly, but that place probably isn’t anywhere near your PS2.
  13. Obviously, there's nothing really new here. Although you have arms which you can use to punch out other robots and slam their heads' into the track as you drive, it's not very interesting as a fighting title. It also can't compare to the carnage in other violent racing games, such as one of the Burnout titles.
  14. An odd combination of racing and combat that really doesn't satisfy fans of either genre.
