Every hero has a weakness, and Justice League Heroes' kryptonite is its laughably lame story. Wait a second, wasn't this game written by an actual comic writer? That's why it's sad that the story is frickin' terrible.

An excellent beginning to what could be an incredible franchise.
  3. If you’re a fan of the genre and you’ve got a friend who wants in on it too, then I really can’t think of any good reason not to grab this one immediately and dive into it.
  4. The most disappointing aspect of JLH is simply being forced to play as heroes you might not necessarily want to play as. I don’t see any reason why the levels couldn’t have been designed a little more creatively to allow for any combination of heroes.
  5. One of the most celebrated super heroes team gets a pretty decent outing, with intelligent level design and plenty of variety in the gameplay.
  6. Justice League Heroes may offer teams of two instead of teams of four when you play, but its superior two-player dynamic and far superior story make Justice League Heroes more fun than "Marvel Ultimate Alliance," despite the eye-candy edge held by Activision’s title.

We can't pretend that Justice League is anything but a mindless beat-em-up. [Dec. 2006, p.138]
  8. 60
Justice League Heroes is not perfect, and it’s definitely not innovative, but it makes a solid action adventure out of the familiar gameplay and well-loved characters.
  9. “X-Men: Legends” did everything Justice League Heroes tried to do and did it so much better. What’s worse is that this game came out well after “Legends” yet showed no effort to improve on their standards or try anything innovative.
  10. On the plus side, this is the first game that successfully makes Superman a fun character to play.
  11. The most distinguishing feature of Justice League Heroes is its complete lack of any. The game’s one, toted new feature, the ability to pick up rocks and sticks, is literally primitive.
  12. 80
Heroes is a relatively simple game that, at times, feels like "X-Men Legends" with DC character models. Still, the chance to take control of some of the most beloved superheroes on the planet is one that you just can't pass up.
  13. The lack of character selection throughout most of the game, the limit of two-players, and a few frustrating moments when special attacks decide not to work take away from what could have been a stellar superhero title.
  14. It's a familiar formula, but Justice League Heroes offers something interesting by blending dungeon-crawling convention with comic book heroics.
  15. 70
You'll likely have fun with Justice League Heroes if you enjoy the classic dungeon crawl games that Snowblind has previously developed, and even moreso if you're a fan of comic books and the Justice League of America in particular.
  16. If you're looking for groundbreaking gameplay and a thrilling story - or even differences between the Xbox and PS2 versions, other than HD support for Xbox - you'll be disappointed. Justice League Heroes is a pretty standard action RPG that's neither offensive nor alluring.
  17. While a decent dungeon crawler in its own right, it just feels unimpressive in comparison to its rival.
  18. While its dungeon crawler roots make for a slightly repetitive action game, Justice League Heroes is packed with all the right goodies to make this a fun new series with a lot to offer.
  19. JLH is a lot of fun, especially if you're a fan of the major characters.
  20. Like a good sack of White Castle cheeseburgers Justice League Heroes isn’t very good quality, and yet it’s still satisfying in some strange way.
  21. The game really falls flat, and feels more like a hack and slash title than a superhero game.
  22. 64
The core of the game works well. In fact, if you just admired it from afar, you might mistake JLH for a great game. But the level design is as basic and uninspired as it can get and the enemies are just an endless throng of nameless robots and Martians.
  23. The game’s RPG spin is a positive one, and the potential for multi-player missions certainly lifts Snowblind Studio’s effort above the banal, but the superheroes that the developer has attempted to honour here deserve much more bang for their buck.
  24. Fans of the DC Universe should more than likely love how much work went into the game to make it actually seem like the comics.
  25. The environments are beautiful and highly detailed, also are the destructible elements like the vehicles, trees and newspaper stands.

As good, if not slightly better than Marvel Ultimate Alliance - it really just depends which company's heroes you prefer. [Christmas 2006, p.82]

My suggestion: Get the most from this game by playing with your own superfriends. [Dec. 2006, p.123]

A repetitive action game with comic book heroes. The lack of variation and camera issues are its biggest problems. The game is at its best when playing with a friend. [Jan 2007]

Justice here isn't always pretty. But it gets the job done. Barely. [Dec. 2006, p.68]

The story is dull, the locations sparse and empty, and the camera is extremely annoying most of the time. [Issue #147, p.80]

It's ultimately still hacking and slashing, but it's hacking and slashing done pretty well. [Holiday 2006, p.84]

Being a superhero should be exciting, not a drab slog through a series of boring corridors, right? [Christmas 2006, p.76]
  33. The arcade-style fist fights can get a little repetitive but DC Comic fans should get a thrill out of teaming up their favourite characters.
  34. While a decent dungeon crawler in its own right, it just feels unimpressive in comparison to its rivals. Unless you must have a DC Comics dungeon crawler, you'd be better off looking at "Marvel Ultimate Alliance."
  35. That's where Justice League Heroes shines: its ability to suck you in and make you forget about the real world's ills while you focus on that rampaging robot problem that Metropolis seems to have every Tuesday.

This game lacks Batman's attitude, Green Lantern's gadgets, The Flash's quickness, and Superman's strength. It's a mediocre action-RPG through and through.
  37. 80
With a great cast of characters, tons of unlockables, and a solid single-player campaign JLH is worth picking up for fans of the comics. Casual gamers looking for more bang for their buck may want to wait to get their hands on "Marvel Ultimate Alliance."

The story is great and all the little details in the background is fun to see/listen to. The camera could be better but it is not that big of a deal and does not matter that much. The only thing that i find not to be good about the game is that their is not multiplayer that you could play with others. Overall the game is just about perfect. Full Review »
