While it is still a decent game, it is by no means one of the better games within the series. It comes up short in a few places and overall doesn't capture the same level of fun that other games have had.
King of Fighters joins the 3D fighting game ranks! This addition to the series is a super cool one to me, coming from a 3D fighter background, as it maintains it's 2D sensibilities and execution that KOF is known for, and combines it with some of the more accessible aspects of the 3D fighter world. Movement is a key factor in this game, and now you can sidestep or back dash away from attacks, and punish with your own combination! The game consists of all our favorite KOF characters rumble ready for some 3D fighter action in a variety of modes that will keep you hooked!
Maximum Impact isn’t a game I would recommend to anyone other than you hardcore KOF fans. There are much better fighting games out there with a lot more to offer for you others.
A good first attempt at bringing The King of Fighters franchise into the realm of modern 3D fighters, but it does not quite go far enough. At the same time I fear the changes will alienate some of the core KOF fans.
Something that will prove infuriating regardless is the utter unfairness of the game’s final boss, a confrontation that only serves to highlight the game’s major problems.
Maximum Impact isn't a failure, per se, but it was an ill-advised move that SNK will hopefully learn a lesson from. It's better to be king of a flat empire than become a polygonal pauper.
it's e really good step foward for the franchise, even though it is a bit slow-paced, it feals way more balanced then some other games of the franchise.
It's a pretty solid attempt at a 3D KOF game however the Roster is quite small 20 characters though unlike KOF12 it had fan favorites like Mai so i guess it gets a pass for people out there and the gameplay is weird at times i wish i can explain it but maybe the movement is weird also unlocking extra colors feels weird mainly because you aren't notified about it compared to MI2.
SummaryKing of Fighers: Maximum Impact is the first KOF title to be designed specifically for the PlayStation 2, rather than being based on any existing SNK arcade version. Maximum Impact features 24 of the most popular KOF characters such as Terry Bogard and Kyo Kusanagi all rendered in 3D. The game also features six brand new characters to th...
