26An all around mess of a game, Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing is officially one of (if not THE) worst examples of digital boxing we've ever seen.
-
25Quite possibly one of the most confused games and most definitely one of the worst games to be released so far in 2002.
-
30A collection of terribly constructed animations, horribly limited replay, and a create-a-boxer mode that's shallower than it first seems. [Sept 2002, p.31]
-
40An arcadey boxing game that doesnt measure-up to Midways years-old "Ready 2 Rumble Round 2."
-
Trying to master the game's unintuitive control system (with 12 different types of punches) was making my head spin, until I realized that mashing buttons and "circle strafing" my foe produced great results most of the time.
-
30The "big" draw, aside from the fun cheating Mike Tyson parts, is the damage textures applied to the face and the little blood spurts, and sweat coming off your boxers face after he takes a punch...Once you take so many hits your boxer will go from bruised, to cut, to Face Critical! Whoopty-doo. One feature doesn't make your entire game, Codemasters.
-
An absolutely listless piece of software, which fails on almost every level to convey the action of its subject sport. If the big man himself sees this, hes liable to bite the Darling brothers ears off.
-
20Pathetically boring.
-
There are many flaws. The fighters move as if wearing cinder-block shoes. [July 2002, p.101]
-
33The game is a mess from the opening bell to the K.O. punch. As for differences between the two versions, nothing was touched up for the Xbox version, and both games are virtually identical.
