  • Summary: An all-new Smart Shot Indicator provides a visual gauge of the impact defense has on shot opportunities, and a new Power Boarding System is now in place to offer a true 3D approach for players to position themselves for rebounds. Additionally, NBA '07 includes refined core gameplay elements including new mechanics for stealing, passing, and shot selection as well as more intuitive Artificial Intelligence. Officially licensed by the NBA, more than a dozen mini-games are available in NBA '07 including favorites such as 21, Own the Court, and 3-Point Shootout. "Showtime Gameplay" returns, providing players the opportunity to manage and balance a variety of game time elements including temperamental crowds, eager teammates, and individual basketball skills. With online access to compete in a variety of leagues and tournaments, EyeToy functionality, and an all-new soundtrack, NBA '07 is prepared to deliver the most realistic professional basketball experience available - on and off the courts. 1. It plays well, and for a PS2 game it shows a lot of firepower. SCEA is doing something different with the genre, and that is always refreshing. It’s not the best looking or sounding game, but the solid gameplay and entertaining story mode make it worth the time of any fan of the genre.
  2. Of course, it's better than last year, but it still has a ways to go before it supplants The Life as the reason to get this game. [Nov. 2006, p.134]
  3. I think the biggest downer is the missing franchise mode. How else is one to see how their management skills translate to the product on the court?
  4. The Life is a flawed, yet fun basketball game that's worth a look for anyone that's searching for a different take on the sport.
  5. Having introduced the revolutionary story-driven basketball title last year, Sony unfortunately takes a few steps back with an unpolished gameplay and severely dated visuals for its sequel.

Hardcore basketball fans will groan at the old-school gameplay of NBA 07, but it's obvious the game wasn't developed with them in mind. It offers a fun little hoops offering for those who aren't sticklers for detail, and The Life is a nice change of pace for sports games.
  7. If this is the best basketball game current-gen has to offer than I’m really glad next-gen is already here.

The first 5 mintues of this game are terrible. The gameplay is sloppy and the story line isn't really "The Life", it's a waste of life. I recommend another NBA video game because this one doesn't make a basket. Expand
