For anyone who appreciates bizarre characters and storylines, the game is especially appealing. The graphics are fantastic, although the gameplay itself is standard overall.
  2. Even with its flaws, Okage remains a breath of fresh air for a genre in desperate need of the kind of originality and variety that it provides.
  3. A must for any fan of Tim Burton's style of movies or those of us who like our games to sometimes be a little left of center.
  4. Okage's extreme weirdness does level off after a while into a mostly familiar RPG, but its overall charm and humor make the experience well worth it.
  5. A wonderful mix of ironic humor, classic gameplay and gorgeous graphics.
  6. Eclectic, eccentric, and unconventional...only the gameplay had remained entertaining and the novelty hadn’t worn off – Okage could have easily taken the game world by storm.
  7. It's a trimmed down and dumbed-down RPG for younger players that just may find an adult audience with its sense of humor and hilarious story line.

Definitely one of the game's strong points is that it gives you lots of options in the dialogue, so you really feel a part of the story. [Nov 2001, p.106]
  9. The story itself may not live up to the expectations of an engrossing plot with surprising twists, but the light-hearted humor of the game compensates somewhat.

Its also a little short and can be beaten in around 24-35 hours.

So as always the press gives the score they want without taking into the consideration what the game tryies to give. I remember this launched a little before FFX, and some magazines were comparing the games for whatever reasons.
OSK never wanted to be a FF and will never be like one, it's funny and clever with awesome characters and good music. Yeah, it's simple, but it's the point. So if you like funny games with good characters, plot and music, this game is for you, good challenge in battles also, though i not a game to spend countless hours grinding, so keep that in mind. Then If you want to play a Xenogears kind of game, this is far from that.

So that's it, this game is very underrated and I hope that if you are into this, you give it a chance.
