  • Summary: SEGA SuperStars for EyeToy, developed by SEGA's Sonic Team studio, leverages the camera control-method featured in EyeToy to bring a new level of interactivity to the company's core brands such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Samba de Amigo, House of the Dead, Virtua Fighter and more.

  1. Excellent gameplay is the order of the day here, and the classic franchises will make Dreamcast and Saturn fans teary-eyed just at the thought of them. This is the best EyeToy compilation to date.
  2. Unfortunately, Sega SuperStars is missing one crucial thing - a multiplayer mode. You can enter your name at the end of each game if you've scored well enough, and the ability to take a photo of the winner and save it along with the score is nice, but there's no structured multiplayer mode such as the one found in EyeToy: Play.
  3. There are tons of classics in here, from Super Monkey Ball to Nights. All have been converted as well as you could expect. [GamesMaster]
  4. Not a title that you'd likely want to spend much time with alone, but can be a good deal of fun in a party environment or for younger players. [Jan 2004, p.67]
  5. Sega Superstars will bring a tear to the eye of many gamers, especially the poor old Dreamcasters. Okay, so there's no great substance here and no multiplayer modes, but all those little extra bits add up to something of a surprise.
  6. The quality is uneven and there are no multiplayer tournament modes, but youngsters and Sega devotees will have great fun, particularly with the music games.
  7. Why waste money on Superstars when you can buy any number of hallucination-inducing substances to get your friends swatting at the air for a fraction of the price? [Feb 2005, p.94]
