The gameplay remains unchanged, featuring turn-based fighting and relying on the player to judge the trajectory and strength of their shots in order to inflict maximum damage on opponents. All the favourite weapons such as bazooka, grenade, dynamite, air strike and sheep are present including some new additions. Defensive tactics can also be employed as you choose to dig in with buildings, trenches, sandbags or fortifications, while buildings on the landscapes can also provide shelter against attacks. Adapt your strategy according to the weapons available, landscape and each new opponent you play. With a multitude of tactics available, coupled with the ever-changing, randomly generated landscapes, no battle will ever be the same. Worms 3D is set in a more exciting and immersive game world than ever before, with the emphasis on great multi-player action and challenging single-player fun. Collapse

  1. If you are a fan of the Worms series, then by all means pick this one up. You will love it. If you are new to the Worms series, you might want to try one of the 2d ones first.
  2. A game with endless replay value, a solid single-player campaign and challenge missions, and plenty of random levels with changeable options for both single and multi-player matches.
  3. Just as addictive as its predecessors, but features more thoughtful challenges and conquests. [Mar 2004, p.97]

Use of certain weapons and locomotion across the map can be cumbersome, and the game just doesn't have that same pendulum energy of before in the fights. [Apr 2004, p.64]
  5. Is Worms 3D as good as its predecessors such as Worms, and Worms Armageddon? No, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean that Worms 3D should be overlooked.
  6. It’s particularly good as a two-player, casual contest. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better alternative for comic, 3D, turn-based combat on a console.

While Worms 3D essentially delivers what it says on the tin, in surrendering its intuitive interface the concept has evolved into a far less attractive proposition. A shame. [Dec 2003, p.126]

Worms 3D is a fun and challenging game. The game play is similar to anyone who's played a Worms game before but now the game is played withinWorms 3D is a fun and challenging game. The game play is similar to anyone who's played a Worms game before but now the game is played within a 3D rendered world rather than a 2D platform. This is a neat addiction to the series but it can be tricky to aim your weapons and judge where your shots are going to land. However, this element does add a lot of strategy to the game; you need to be really good and learn to judge where the shots of your weapons are roughly going to land. The weapons from past Worms games make a return like the Bazooka and Sheep which are fun to use and Worms 3D introduces a new utility; Red Bull! Guess what this does to your worm! The graphics are nice and like past Worms games, terrain is fully destructible which are formed from explosions and usage of your weapons. Worms 3D is a neat idea, bringing 3D to the Worms series and every Worms fan should like this. Expand
