  1. The game is fun, but is ultimately held back by its non-responsive controls.
  2. If "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" is the American sitcom of skateboarding games, with predictable pacing and familiar set pieces, than Yanya is the genre's ridiculous Japanese anime, always ready to mess with your expectations of what the genre should be.
  3. There simply is no other game like this on PS2, and that alone makes it an attractive -if somewhat expensive- $50 gamble.
  4. While it bears a passing similarity to "Jet Grind Radio," the unresponsive and overly simplistic gameplay and repetitive mission objectives keep it from reaching the same level as Smilebit's innovative and engaging in-line skating game.
  5. 40
Skateboarding fans stay clear of this one, unless you’re in a goofy mood, and you just want to play something entirely silly.
  6. Its simplistic gameplay and utter lack of complicated mechanics make it far easier to pick up, but the shallow gameplay will be a turnoff to skateboarding game enthusiasts.
  7. Spectacularly bizarre in a good way. [Oct 2001, p.148]
  8. With the control totally screwed, graphics, sound, and other bells and whistles don't matter.
  9. 70
Although its gameplay is derivative, Yanya Caballista’s ludicrous B-movie plot, wacky animation, and cartoon-inspired zaniness give it entertainment value.
  10. A limited trick set takes away from the power of the game. [Oct 2001, p.135]
  11. It isn’t bad, just eccentric – perhaps too much for its own good. [Jan 2002, p.82]
  12. Lacks the necessary energy to keep the game moving, and instead relies on the gimmicky "fingerboard" to set itself apart. But as far as gimmicks go, it's a good one.
  13. Features fine graphics, a unique backstory, and atrocious controls.

I like the game but I got it used so I don't have a finger board. I still like it but playing it is harder than it should be.

This is a really fun game for one player; the only drawback is that you only get one fingerboard and the second player has to fly blind.
