  • Summary: [Playstation Network] With fast paced action, crushing hits and loads of room to experiment, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade promises to have gamers from all walks of life excited about hockey. With no rules to hinder the action, deliver devastating checks that send your opponent over the boards and watch as he has to skate back onto the ice. If the goalie comes out of his crease to play the puck, check him. Exaggerated player-looks take center stage with 40 of the top NHL stars, representing every team, skating around the miniature rink. With game-changing power-ups falling on the ice throughout each session, serious is not the name of this game. Fly down the ice with a super-speed skater, and beat a giant sprawling goalie with a trick move for that highlight reel finish. With two control schemes to choose from, players can pick between button controls that allow gamers of all skill levels to pass, shoot, hit and break out the all-new trick moves with ease, or the more advanced Skill Stick controls from NHL 09. 3 on 3 NHL Arcade also brings the online experience players have come to expect from EA SPORTS. In addition to standard ranked matches, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade allows the ability for three players on one console to play three other players on another console anywhere in the world. 1. As fun and fast as it should be. [Aug 2009]

Even with the issues, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade's a must-play for fans of arcade sports, and I want to commend the makers for mercifully extracting the pointless bloat of pre-game intros and a circling zamboni between periods.
  3. There is no doubt that 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is missing some key features like a Season or Tournament mode, it needed something. Lucky for the guys and gals over at EA, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade works from top to bottom giving a really great arcade hockey experience.
  4. Minimal load times, fast-paced on-the-ice action and a steady array of power-ups make for a game that plays well, controls well and has only a slight learning curve. What hurts the game is the lack of game options - there are really only three ways to play it and two are online.
  5. 62
This does lack the longevity that other PlayStation Network games have and it's likely to be pretty forgettable. [Issue#88, p.89]
  6. 59
The over-the-top gameplay is a good fit, but it is a bit unimaginative. Shrinking goalies and massive body checks aren't exactly stretching the boundaries for an arcade game.
  7. 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is overpriced and annoying.

It is difficult to completely explain why myself and a few friends have wasted countless hours having tournaments with 3 on 3.. but this video that we made does the job. Expand

Number 1 i am hockey crazy. I love it. Second i got this for only 3 dollars using playstation plus so for any hockey lovers pick this up! I also own NHL 11. This game is great for me because it is a great side game to help with nhl 11. When i lose in NHL 11 i play this and feel instantly better. The hits are great the powerups are wonderful. Sometimes certain things like hitting goalies down and while there down can get me mad. I just think this game is so fun and exciting. The amount of goalies you can pick from isnt good but the players are. Thiis game isnt very long. Also a side note, if your a trophy horder youll love this game. 2 games in i got all but 2 trophies. Great game if you want trophies. I personally think the playthrough value is blasting through the roof. I find cool ways to score and it honestly doesnt get old. Ive played a game a day for probably a month now. In my opinion get the game whether or not you have playstation plus. Even if you dont you should still get it. The demo comes with NHL 11 as a side not Expand
