For brief, glimmering moments near the end of a stage, when using a Move controller, Babel Rising is a decent game with average visuals. The rest of the time, it's an entirely ho-hum riff on tower defense despite its clever inversion of the Lemmings formula.

Babel Rising is a very fun game, but it should have stayed on smartphones and tablets. It's a nice game to play for about a quarter, but soon it gets boring. You have to push certain buttons repeatedly and the gameplay doesn't really change throughout the game. It's a shame the developer didn't take more advantage of the Biblical story this game is based on, because it could use a storyline.
  3. It works well and is reasonably enjoyable at first as cartoon underlings are crushed by your mighty powers. The difficulty eventually ramps up the challenge, and special characters like element-immune priests are there to shake things up. It only partially works though, and overly long missions and an objective that gets stale too quick stops this building anything impressive on its solid foundation.

Babel Rising is an intriguing game, but it never comes close to scaling the heights of its inspirational tower. A dull single-player campaign and poor presentation take away from the appeal of the concept, and while the well integrated multiplayer adds some replayability to experience, it's not enough to prevent the flaky fortification from ultimately falling to the floor.

Short and puzzling in more ways than one. A clunky oddity. [August 2012, p81]

Babel Rising can be fun and looks great, but needs a lot more refinement before it reaches a biblical level of gaming goodness. [Sept 2012, p.87]

Now, here's a great concept that's actually executed well. It's a shame that it gets repetitive after a while and that the PlayStation Move controls aren't as intuitive as the controller's. Overall, it's worth picking up; you won't regret this purchase.

In Babel Rising you have to prevent hard working labourers from building the titular tower by conjuring wind and raining fire down on them. Fun and entertaining for a while, but also very monotonous. [July 2012, p.93]
