Oct 28, 2013Even on current-generation consoles, this game looks great. The sheer amount of on-screen action is astounding for this aging hardware to be capable of producing. Character models are easily the sharpest that they have ever been; the weapons look accurate and clean, and character animations flow through the environment without looking stiff or forced.
Oct 30, 2013Battlefield 4 is like a big, jovial belly laugh. It’s intense, flashy, amusing, and explosive, and it doesn’t bother about having a brain. It doesn’t need one, either, as the multiplayer is dense, involving and ultimately enjoyable from top to bottom. Still, I refuse to completely disregard the campaign, which, as entertaining as it often is, remains a disappointment for me.
Nov 1, 2013The single-player component is an uninspired yet enjoyable enough aside, while the multiplayer component - however great it may be - hasn't really enhanced the series in any tangible way. Great fun, of course, but more of the same. Good news for Battlefield fans, if nothing else.
Nov 4, 2013The multiplayer is the life and soul of the game, and lives up to and improves upon what Battlefield 3 had to offer. There’s greater variety of vehicles, maps which push off into new and interesting directions with changeable elements thanks to Levolution...Yet finding a score is tricky. The single player is quite frankly poor.
Oct 29, 2013To all those saying this game is rehashed or the same as BF3... Let's see:
Levolution: THis basically getting a map switch mid-level, and YOU do it! or don't, that's up to the players, every map is almost two maps and it looks immense.
Interactivity: Raise vehicle barriers, trap opponents in lifts and trains, destruction is overwhelming. EVERYTHING can get messed up and it is so much fun!
Commander mode.. Play on the commute on your tablet? Hell yeah. You can even speak into your tabvet mic and people hear you in-game :D amazing!!
64 vs 64..... no more need to be said here...
Different classes and specialization trees: these are not minor tweaks, but sweeping changes
I can go on and on but I am nearly off the train from my lunch break.
Wake up haters, this is SO so much more than a reskinned BF3, this is a genuine evolvement and until you can show me a better FPS I am firmly in the 10 camp here.
COD fans must be terrified, and it shows with these bogus, baseless reviews from people that clearly haven't even played BF4 yet.
DICE FTW, take a bow guys.… Expand
Nov 13, 2013The game is good, but they were a bit hasty to release the game with still alot of unfixed bugs even after the Beta. Ok, the story is great but it's nothing i've seen before. It's a shooter so you don't have time to be sentimental about the characters. But it's great graphics, real cool action. It's not like an big DLC pack to BF3, it got alot of new items and system changes and interface bla, bla, bla.
Why are you not buying it right now?
Are you unsure if it's worth the money?
OfCourse! It's a superawesome shooter game that's much much better than BF3. There are so much new stuff to check out. But i recommend you to wait until it's patched, otherwise you wont get the full excperience!… Collapse
Nov 7, 2013Although Origin is still a chore and what I REALLY wanted was something like Battlefield 2142, dems da breaks.
Been on a total bender playing recently. I left BF3 to collect dust a while ago and was totally pumped that this game reignited my inner killer. Call of Duty was always kinda meh to me and I think most people would agree that EA has the formula down for leading this genre.
My install was a little annoying, mainly because it was a little buggy and i don't have patience for that when I want to play so...bad. In about 20 hours of gameplay I have crashed to desktop twice. Well whaaa. I got over it and continue to enjoy the game.
Lots of harsh feedback from folks reminds me of the Diablo 3 debacle. Long story short, they made the game too different and predictably arouse a salty and modest population of people who feel wronged, and indignant. It's just the exact opposite here. Same population size, same bitterness, different gripe. One thing you can count on is that this type of QQ'ing will invariably occur whenever a company does something awesome initially, and tries to do something awesome again in the future. It's a long fall from the top of the food chain.
Lets talk about similarities between BF3 and BF4. Do they exist? Uh huh. Is it tangible to truly believe that there is so little variation between the two that BF4 has failed as a result of this? Only if you're blind.
Personally, I could justify paying the games retail price even if it WAS the EXACT same game with new maps but that's just me.
My advice, do yourself a favor and if you're kinda having a hard time accepting the fact that your awesome powerhouse computer is actually a 5 year old POS that wasn't even top-end during its heyday. Stay away from the game. It will only...hurt you more.
I have an Alienware M17x; a great rig but if a computer is two years old, that's like 60 in human years. I ain't gonna lie and say that there isn't some magical $#(T in the graphics settings I would dream to set on Ultra, but I can't. So I sign, maybe get a little misty eyed, play the game, and feel a lot better.… Expand
Nov 21, 2013This game has its good points, but, there were a lot of issues and bugs with the game in its current state, sometimes it freezes, sometimes the graphics don't load, and the story mode was very annoying at some points, like when it deletes your progress. The storyline is also more of a gauntlet when it comes to big fights and the enemies will come in droves, which, even on its lowest difficulty setting its painstakingly hard to survive thirty-five dudes shooting at you at once and it just gets a little bit overwhelming. Personally, I preferred Battlefield 3.… Expand
Oct 29, 2013*sigh* I can't believe this. After the disappointment of BF3, I was hoping for DICE to redeem themselves with this next entry. I was mistaken.
First off, the SP is a joke. Every mission is completely cliche, and downright boring. The ally A.I. is a mixed bag. They'll shoot and kill the enemy, yes, but they won't start shooting until AFTER YOU COMMAND THEM TO DO SO! The promise of "Tactical gameplay" in this game is none existent for some reason. You know what, I'll leave at the fact that the SP in BF4 is garbage.
Second, the graphics... yes it looks good, but I swear every time I look at this game, I believe I'm playing an expansion to BF3. The texture pop-ins and weird graphical glitches really annoy me.
Third, the multiplayer. I had zero percent fun in this game's MP. since this is the current gen version, its only 24-players online. It'll get boring very fast. Levelution doesn't help the experience for me either.
You know what? I've had it. I'm done!
I'm sick of the BS EA has been pulling this generation! EA has completely ruined the Battlefield I know and love! Battlefield is no longer the franchise I remember anymore.
This game is just a pathetic attempt to take down Call of Duty!
Why should I continue to support a franchise I like when its own publisher is only making it to take down another game I like?
I am officially done with Battlefield and I'm not returning until then!
EA, go f**k yourself!… Expand
Nov 9, 2013A rehash of BF3 would have been better. The graphics on BF4 are worse, the maps lack the dynamic that made BF3 fun. They restricted the maps down to just around the objectives but have a bunch of rooftops to perch on, not really a plus in my opinion. The ground lacks in depth ground features leaving you out in the open to be quickly sniped and the flight areas are too small to make a jet worth flying. they added 40x and 20x scopes for the sniper rifles as well as a way to zero them in up to 1000 meters, but most maps aren't near big enough to make that viable. There may be a spot or two in every map to get a shot that long, if you want to just sit in the back of the map. it's supposed to be a squad based game but the dynamics of it really doesn't lend well to working as a squad, most of the time you have to split up and head different directions anyway just to cover all the areas, and the recon class with the IRNV goggles and 20x scopes is so over powered on these wide open maps that the only way to combat getting sniped constantly is with a sniper. they added a Designated Marksman Rifle class, which is an idea i love, but they totally botched it by not having any scopes higher than 4x to put on any of the rifles. They did away with team chat so you can't communicate with anyone outside your squad, so often you get stuck in a helicopter or a tank with somebody that you can't talk to. There's a lot of things that made BF3 a good game that they managed to completely fail on in this game, for example smoke grenades in BF3 actually provided smoke thick enough that you could use it to cover movement and actually push up on your enemy, the smoke grenades in BF4 are completely worthless, you can see straight through the tiny amount of smoke the entire time. As far as i'm concerned most of the Levolution stuff doesn't really add to the game play (or make up for what's lacking in it), it may be a neat treat for the easily amused, but in my opinion it's more of a silly distraction from what the true battlefield fans look for and enjoy in the game. I know most of the true Battlefield players that i've talked to have all said that adding more maps and more items to BF3 would have been preferable to this disappointment.
And i haven't even gotten the absolutely terrible technical performance of the game itself. It's absurd that they sold this as published title, the game has so many bugs and issues i'd say it's barely fit for play testing. I played it for a week with just the occasional 3 or 4 console freezes a day, but as of this morning, i can no longer play support class. my console freezes every single time i attempt to deploy as a Support gunner. I wouldn't bother continuing to play BF4 for a couple years like i did with BF3 without the premium package and the extra maps and whatever else comes with it, but as it stands now, i can't see myself paying anything more for this game. Maybe if they fixed all the bugs, made the items work effectively, and took the inferred off the Laser Designator, i may continue to play. Custom servers would be a huge improvement as well. EA has once again robbed me, not only of my money, but of a game i WAS looking forward to the release of.… Expand
