Because in this game you deal with quick and jumpy by just locking on and holding block, and then waiting for an opening. So to some extent, there is a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing. But this gets a ten anyway, some people might like the new bosses, and I can definitely appreciate that they have graphics and animation that is better than anything else in the game. Also, there aren't any bad spots like there are in the main game (Bed of Chaos, I'm looking at you.) But note that access to the dlc comes later in the game -- my advice is wait until you are at the start of duke's archives before deciding whether or not you want it, because you can't access this content until that point (essentially not until you place the lordvessel, since it is very much at the beginning of duke's archives.) But if you are at that point, you probably already love this game, so go ahead and treat yourself to a nice variety of levels, and bosses that are definitely different from all the arch demons that you are dealing with at this point in the game.… Full Review »

However, like a lot of DLC, it doesn't really add much to the overall experience and is somewhat clumsily implemented both in terms of it's narrative (Time travel?.... seriously?) and in how you access it (more on that later). The first zone of the DLC is particularly weak as it is basically a re-skin of a zone from the vanilla game with re-skinned enemies from the Vanilla game. Thankfully the rest of the DLC is 'true' original content with some interesting levels, enemies and bosses.
Finally, while the Souls series is famous for it's nebulous approach to a lot of aspects of it's lore, mechanics etc... the process for accessing the DLC is needlessly obscure, so much so that it further accentuates its 'tacked-on' nature. This means that you will almost certainly miss it entirely unless you have consulted an online guide on how, when and where to access it.… Full Review »

First off, I have not even played the DLC so how am I writing this review? Well, its because I'm playing the normal game right now and trying to invade other peoples worlds and what do I discover? That players who played this DLC can get some armor that online you cannot hit.......so how fair is that? This is just commercialization and greed to offer such an advantage to those willing to buy with real money such a cheapskate advantage in a game that is considered the opposite: that being cruel but fair......So it may be just me and it may be a matter of principle but I don't believe in todays society you should be able to fork out some extra money and get such a crazy advantage by participating in such sleezyness. This ruins the game for me. In my opinion DLC should just be that and the main most important features should be winnable within the main game. To have to subscribe to further purchases to remain competitive is not a great way to keep players happy such as me who find this really rediculous and lame to the point I have to say it ruins the game and deserves a 4 rating therefore. Im sure the creatures and all that ect offline is great but the fact that this DLC creates online mismatches breaks the game. No way will any company lure me into spending more of my real life money in such a half scam.… Full Review »
