The shooting is tight, the experience exciting, and the interplay between games a joy to behold. There are definitely a few months of refinement ahead, but Eve Online players can enjoy another facet to their universe and PS3 loyalists can enjoy a great shooter for nothing.
It is a really good 1st person shooter game. I find it a very good game to play for everyone!!! You can either join a squad or create a squad so that you and your friends can play. I rally enjoy this game. And i think everyone else will enjoy this game
Get ready to create a mercenary with the roots of one of the four races and drop head first into one of the most interesting, addictive and well done shooter to date.
It does not take much effort for this games addictive play style to take its toll on you, soon you will be working for a corporation making millions that pays you to do the dirty work, getting your drop suit dirty and engaging one of the many other corporations within the massive universe of EVE.
In the beginning it starts you off doing public contracts that any new mercenary can perform to make some money and perhaps get noticed by a corporation, these contracts can range from capturing a lone cannon that will shoot down the hostile NCC, or fighting over a lot of turrets either way, turrets are your best friend.
PROS
There are many objectives for you to hack anywhere from supply depots, spawn locations, and turrets that you can use against players instead of an NCC be weary though these turrets pack a punch you don’t get in them so you are vulnerable while using these massive death bringing turrets.
This game may be considered by others to be pay to win as there are things you can pay for however you can get the same or very similar weapons, drop suits, vehicles, over time with unlocking the ability to use them/ buy them with ISK and skill points.
You need a weapon? How about calling in your own customized vehicle whenever you desire. With the proper skill point training you can unlock the ability to use anything from a light assault vehicle to an aerial drop ship and or assault ship.
There are a lot of different combinations and such to keep you playing you can adjust any vehicle or drop suit to fit your needs you can modify your drop suit load outs and there are four great default classes that can compete with drop suits built by players.
CONS
Air vehicles are hard to control if you don’t have much time to play with them they take dedication to get down let alone flying straight.
Having the ability to adjust your sensitivity for ADS (aim down sights for those new to the fps genre) gives an almost unfair advantage to those whom don’t know how to or even about the ability to adjust your sensitivity.
All in all for a free to play shooter you certainly get a great game with lots of replay value and many fun and decisive engagements to keep an action lover happy.
We suspect that the F2P nature of Dust 514 will not be enough to make PlayStation network casual gamers and Eve Online die hard fans the best buddies of this game.
A very poor first person shooter buoyed up by the promise of things to come, and an impressively ambitious attempt at a cross-format connected universe.
This game has something that a lot of Shooter games are missing. Customization to make your character function differently than what everyone else on the battlefield is doing. Even though this game still needs to grow, there is differently potential for this to be one of the best shooter games out there. But as far as replay value goes, this game has what you need. And dont just think just bc you are good at CoD that you can just walk into this game in be great at it. Because you'll find that this game has a vast learning curve to conqueror before you can even think about having a playstyle that is perfect for you.
Dust 514 is very hard game to review, the game tries hard to balance Unpaying Players from Item-Buying Players but at the same time it tries to compesate the Item-Buying Player because they spend money on this Tier 2 or 3 weapon or this modified Tank, Dust 514 was advertised as an MMOFPS (ala Planetside) but because of the PS3 hardware, the game just became somewhat Battlefield like-Free-to-Play where you are going from battle to battle gaining Credits and XP, The main point of the game is/was the connectivity within DUST 514 and EVE Online as you are a Mercenary working for the Players of EVE Online, however, this connectivity is only possible if you have friends playing EVE since you need to be contacted by a EVE player to get major EVE contracts for you or your Guild, if not, you will spend most of your time on Generic Quick Skirmishes or Factional Battles in which your victory or defeat doenst affect the EVE Universe at all.
The Gameplay is a mix bag, i spend more than 30 hours into the game and for every battle my team won, i lose three because of balance issues the game have, in the game you have two types of currency, AUR (Real Money) and ISK (virtual Money), the reason why the developers said that this game was not a "Pay to Win" was because with AUR you can only brought different skinned Tier 2 and 3 weapons and vehicles sets (The Vehicle,His Gun and different Skin), however. with AUR you can also buy temporal XP and ISK Boosters that multipliers the amount of Money and XP you gain after a battle.
The Game has a Skill tree system that you upgrades with XP, however, you need ISK to unlock most of the Upgrades, the Skill Tree is very specific in what you want to upgrade, it can be from your general stats to the damages certain type of weapons can cause and his Magazine limit, is very specific but annoying since the upgrades can get very expensive to unlock or to upgrade, you will find yourself saving XP and Money to get the ability to use Tier 2 and 3 weapons and later Dropsuits.
But even after all, you will find some entertaiment in DUST 514, plus if you have friends or a Guild you can have a lot of fun playing this PS3 Free-to-Play.
This is a pretty good game. The controls feel a bit awkward at times and it is not a 10/10 game, but it is a good way to kill some time and it is free so if you hate it, It's not like you lose anything.
I loved it when it first came out, but had technical issues where my paid in game content just disappeared. Support couldn't fix it. Also, the game is now defunct, you can't even play it now.
Games premise is its a version of quake wars with micromanaging, problem is it gets both wrong.
Gameplay is poor, rarely do you get tug-of-wars, every game 1 team just simply dominates most often to the point where one team will be spawn killed over and over. Only way to escape this is the tdm mode, where again a more experience player with better stats will win every time 1on1.
When you start it places you in simple matches, but after a few games you are thrown into the deep end and well most players will drown.
Maps themselves are not that good, everything is stretched out way to much with the most dull graphics seen in a ps3 fps.
Game simply isn't worth your time when can play similar modes in refined games like Battlefield 3
SummaryDUST 514 is a free-to-play console-based hybrid massively multiplayer online first-person shooter set within the EVE universe and interacts directly with EVE Online.
