Even though there are some mistakes here and there (let's say it's youth related), F1 2010 probably remains one of the best F1 racing games ever. It's reminiscent of the old Formula One on the original PlayStation, and even better, of the legendary F1 '97. But a thousand times more comprehensive and realistic. Its career mode grants it an enormous playtime expectancy, and racing over the internet or against the clock is a delight best served with long evenings to fully enjoy it. Well, that's it : F1 2010... what else ?
If you're looking for a racing game that will grow with you over the coming months, F1 2010 is that game. It's not perfect, but it does more than enough right to make it a non-brainer for most – utterly brilliant.
I love this game. I like winning against the boys who like to play bumper cars. Although I have been destroyed by some of the elites out there, I acknowledge that most people I've played have no clue how to overtake someone without causing an incident, I'll say that there are people who just don't need to. These gladiators just pressure you into a mistake and you have to settle for 2nd place. Hahahaha but I still have the most online victories ever in f1 2010 (PS3). I know that makes me sound like way too **** but in fact jay7090 number 436, with 6243 victories uses his brakes!. I'd like to say my neighbors to the south in the U. S. race very clean while the Spanish race like **** Why is this? Does this whole nation believe that they are in fact Fernando Alonso? I get along fine with everyone else. Well, almost everyone, I am winning without an expensive steering wheel. Overall the game has it's flaws. P.I.T. is far too easy to fall victim to and the top speeds on some straights are too low. Anyways, I look forward to using D.R.S. in F1 2011 and I'm sure that it will make overtaking cleaner online. Oh and by the way at the start, take turn one at Spa in 1st gear and hug the wall on the right to overtake everyone. Seriously it like always works provided you don't get smashed by some ****.
Another great game from Codemasters, This is the best racing game out today, Still.... Ive had it since release and its playback ability is still huge, i still go online and theres a massive array of racers on, The graphics are amazing in this game, theres no doubt about it, and for a first installment, i cant see how people can complain, Unless theyre garbage.
The rank system is very good, but floored by a giant rank glitch whereby 1 lap championships get you to rank 50 and a huge stat base very fast. The AI in this game are pretty damn good, online theyre a bit solid, they dont move off the racing line, or try to go round you if you stop in the middle of the track due to a crash or whatever, they just stop. So this game could really use all the extra, Safety car, Kers, Adjustable rear wings etc
The Major thing this game needs, is adjustments to its multiplayer, The two main ones i can think of are a Full grid, and team racing. This game would be a 10 if it had the option of working with a friend in a championship against other human players and having a team qualifying just like the real thing.
Cant wait for F1 2011
F1 2010 is the first "real" F1-simulation. Not only with all the data from the season 2010 but also with almost all the rules of the FIA F1. Including flags, warnings, penalties and limited tire sets – only a pace car is missing. The controls are direct but not too sensitive, the graphics detailed and mostly fluid. Especially the wet races are great! Presentation could be better certainly.
F1 2010 is a great game, one of the best racing games this year. It recreates faithfully such a technical competition, both gameplay-wise and visually-wise. If the AI was harder, this would be one of the best games in the genre. Online modes could be much more interesting.
F1 2010 is a fine starting point from Codemasters who deserve credit for putting together this comprehensive release. Generally, our high expectations have been met; it's where the series goes next that will be the true test.
Taken as a whole, F1 2010 is a maddening experience as, in spite of the numerous flaws it undoubtedly has, it is capable of throwing up some of the most intense, exciting racing moments you are likely to find in a game.
Excellent game. If you like F1 and racing games, this is sure to satisfy. Online play is cool, only down side are the idiots who like crashing into everyone on the track - go play Nascar if you like crashing so much! And it would have been nice to be able to view your season results in carrer mode. Other than that the driving is awesome, graphics amazing, AI very well balanced without being predictable and loads of game options : career, championship, online, race weekend, time trial, etc... My fave game for months and months to come!
I previously rated this game as a 6 but some stuff has been improved so I've moved my score up to 7. The rest of this still applies:
I'm not a big race fan and this game does nothing to capture my audience. I do enjoy racing but from my brief play of this game it is no different than any other racing game. For me, I want a racing game to be a high end fantasy production that captures me, pulls me into the atmosphere. This game is so bland it fails to do that on all fronts. First off the game software designers were noticably lazy on many fronts. It all starts with inputing a name. You will likely find your name missing from selections and this is a huge turn off for a simulator, when text is such a small part of a blu ray disc. The next thing you will notice is a cheesy PS2 like world done very poorly, so why even bother? Your agent looks and moves like maybe even a psone character, well I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say PS2. But this sets the stage for further disappointment. Next you move on to the cars and find they sound like tin cans not the powerful beasts they are in real life. There is no realism to their sounds. Even on TV you can feel the power of the F1 cars. This game? Hardly any of that feel is captured at all. Other expectations not met: I do not feel claustrophobic in my car and the sound of the engine is pretty feeble. I want some high end sound coming from the game and instead its flat. I want to hear my tires squeal and want to feel the pull of my treads on the ashphalt, and I also want to feel like I was in a real accident if I go off track and crash and I want smoke from the tires. This game is no better than any other race game from past generations in this respect. Further, i want a simulator of F1. Should I hit another car I should be disqualified with a broken car and have to try again. An accident in this game, the two cars just stay locked together and travel down the track one forward and one reverse? C'mon. It should be easy to loose your career and it should be very difficult to become a master of the courses and race without being bumper cars. Well at this point I'm not interested at all in this game. Maybe it has great physics and weather, I don't know I will never find out because the rest of the game is so poorly done I'm not interested in going further. At best this could be a good arcade game but for a simulator its pathetic.I'm going to have the last laugh here. Everyone rating this game highly is only rating it highly based on visuals and speed. Apparently the thrilling rush of speed is enough to rate a game high. I look at it from a different perspective. Is the game good? No. It is clear 10 minutes in a lot of lazy programming and I will have the last laugh after it takes the rest of you 20 hrs to realize the gameplay will contain the same laziness like BAJUS described and also some of the profession reviewers who pointed out even if you beat vehicles in time trial they can be placed ahead of you on the grid. How can you say the gameplay is a good similator. That's how it works in real life? LOL.
One other thing i would like to add is that i bought a logitech driving force GT and it seems to work nicely and improve the game immersion quite a bit. There however does not seem to be a ton of preference options for the wheel but the wheel none the less feels good while playing with what is offered.
Graphics on track = 10/10, just great experience driving it on your HD tv. Also gameplay is good. Some flaws there are though. 1) Graphics on the pits are a bit shabby 2) AI is really robotic and soulless. The second one is important one so if it could be bettered this would be better game. Also NO split-screen here which is a disappointment too. There is time trial party as a multiplayer though. Online is very good, especially private leagues around the world or with your friends. Also I spent 30+ hours in public online gameplay, winning like 50 games. It is fun racing, only flaw being the players who crash so that can be a major minus for someone. Career mode is quite nice, it can get boring though when you realize the lacky AI. But overall this delivers decent, or even good F1 game experience.
This game had a really great potential to be the best F1 game to date. It's true that at first it seems that way. The visuals, the sounds of the cars, the presentation, everything is there. The game seems to capture that feeling of glamour that F1 has. The weather effects are truly spectacular. Unfortunately the game fails in its core, the gameplay. Apart from the numerous bugs the game shipped with (although most of them are fixed after the patch release) the game is really frustrating to drive with a controller. I can't say if its the same with a wheel as I don't own one but the one most annoying thing about the driving is that the car spin outs are completely WRONG and mostly RANDOM. Yes, you'll find yourself braking late at a turn, leave the throttle, take the turn and BANG you'll spin out just by turning at a very low speed without throttle. It's extremely frustrating to try to make good consistent laps only to have a random spin out and lose places/time. This really ruins it for me, maybe it won't for you but I had to warn everyone interested in buying this game.
great feel but not enough "soul" im talking about fun factor. the steering and gear changes are slow and the online, whilst reliable, leaves a lot to be desired to make it enjoyable. and then the bug list is unacceptable. hopefully f1 2011 will be better.
SummaryIn F1 2010 gamers will take on the full, expanded grid in a variety of game modes including Grand Prix, Championship, Time Trial and an extensive, innovative Career mode.
