  • Summary: Faery: Legends of Avalon is a Role Playing / Adventure game packed with an original and unique atmosphere, and a graphics design close to illustration. The game immerses players in a fantasy world inhabited by many colourful characters and magical creatures.

It doesn't excel in all areas and actually disappoints in others but it's still a lengthy, turn-based fantasy RPG that has it where it counts, especially where fans of the genre are concerned.

The massive character customization also makes your faery or elf feel unique, so if you enjoy leveling up and finding loot, you should check out Faery: Legends of Avalon.

For every good point there is a bad. It's definitely an opinion splitter, and some will absolutely love it and forgive its problems, whilst others will pick it to pieces in a matter of minutes. Personally I enjoyed the story and could live with its old school origins, add in the fact it's a rather lengthy affair for a downloadable title and you have something that is worth playing.

The music is pleasing, and the art style is impressive. But with a weak story, bland fetch quests comprising the majority of your campaign, and absolutely no voiceover work whatsoever, this game is hard to recommend to anyone but fans of this genre of games.
  5. Dec 19, 2010
Still, Faery is commendable for being among the first foray of the core RPG genre in the downloadable space dominated by twin-stick shooters and bite-sized platformers.
  6. Dec 19, 2010
The battles are rarely gripping and are so few and far between that you start getting bored waiting for something to actually happen.
  7. An embarrassing, nauseating mess. [Spring 2011, p.116]

this game Faery: Legends of Avalon is actually an 8.5 it suffers from things it cannot control like 0 voice communication other than grunts and yelps in battle. however with the HUGE number of dialogue options i can't see how you stay at 14.99 or remain under 1gb of download. i read issues with flying maybe they only played the demo as its not perfect but flying is rarely done in a rpg like lets say...walking...but its not bad...its not. its maybe an 8 when you get hang of it.... the graphics start of rather.. meh....then in the second world become delightful...the tree world see faery is a little dude with you communicate with squirrels and ants, hornets attack you...the tree is lush and and ambience...the battles are turnbased with the option of offensive front or defensive back position plus multlple attack...stringing together ....per turn. the clothing options alter your look...another issue the game doesn't explain metamorphosis (your abilities) once chosen are set. so if you choose fire you open up fire options but cannot go back and change ....THATS LIFE....otherwise my time spent with this little dude and his companions has been great and at 14.99 you cant beat it with a a download rpg.. A simple turn based RPG downloadable for the PS3. The graphics and character designs are very nicely done. In the beginning, you get to customize your character's facial features only but there are a ton of options so it feels like you are making a very unique character (I just wish there were more hair style options). You spend the game doing quests for people, which are actually errands more than anything and fighting various creatures along the way. Sometimes you can choose how to go about doing a quest, like you can pick a peaceful way of solving problems (involving running more errands) or you can just fight. As you level up, the appearance of your character changes depending on what new abilities you pick. Be warned though, once you pick your first elemental magic, you are stuck leveling up just that element. The fighting is pretty easy but at least you fight a variety of enemies that keeps it interesting. Overall, I enjoyed it and thought it was very pretty and worth the money. Just wish there was another level or two and more leveling up options. Expand
