Fuse is an all-or-nothing experience, though. Bring a full crew or don’t waste your time.
  2. May 28, 2013
Regardless of what mode you play, "with friends" is definitely how this slick near-future shooter thrives, delivering a solid team-based experience with just enough style and substance to keep you entertained.
  3. May 28, 2013
If chaotic, over-the-top shootouts are your thing, there’s plenty to like in Fuse amongst the frustrations. Just be sure to bring some friends along for the ride.
  4. May 28, 2013
Insomniac has definitely proven that they can make a rock-solid, third-person shooter, but all of the testosterone that was injected into the weaponry may have neutered the overall experience.
  5. May 28, 2013
Some of its production values have become stale during its lengthy production cycle, particularly the tinny sound effects and mundane plot devices, but the swiftness of the action and its firmly embedded cooperative design rescue the title from further degradation.
  6. May 31, 2013
Fuse is a good game, especially of you play with friends, but with so many alternatives, you need to be something more than "a good game".
  7. May 28, 2013
Its special guns do some amazing things, but they're boring to shoot. Its tight, responsive controls means it plays like a dream, but they merely offset the tedium that comes with blasting away thousands of generic enemies. And its progression system gives you something to strive for--until you give it a once-over and find useful upgrades to be few and far between.
  8. May 30, 2013
Repetitive and rather poor, FUSE is a failed experiment by Insomniac, which produces a TPS like many others.
  9. May 30, 2013
Fuse is a simple shooter that's made to play with a friend. Nothing about Insomniac's last is mainly bad, but there are also insufficient great things here either.
  10. Jun 3, 2013
Fuse hits its stride when four real-life players are communicating with one another and is mostly above-average when playing with the AI. It’s not perfect, and it won’t set the world on fire, but it’s got some great ideas, and it’s refreshing to play a co-op game where each character feels distinct. Just remember to bring friends — like a Hives concert, this is more fun with other people.
  11. May 28, 2013
Insomniac’s initial plan has devolved into a conglomerative representation of the military-shooter market’s complete saturation, a blueprint of a lack of imagination. Although fun with friends, the developer’s first step away from PS3 exclusivity is just one more time around the world of this generation’s most habitual design choices.

If you ever played an fps game, you've seen almost everything that Fuse offers. Co-op for four players is a nice idea and in theory the futuristic weaponry offers you four different ways to play the game. Unfortunately the dull level design, generic enemies and the basic setting that has been seen at least thousand times make sure, that this summer shooter is quickly forgotten. [Aug 2013]
  13. May 28, 2013
Even with a few shortcomings, Fuse is a terrific game and hopefully it gives rise to a franchise.
  14. Like four boring cover-shooters layered together. Inventive firearms aside, there’s a crippling lack of ideas: the weapon interplay is mild fun, but it can’t elevate the bland whole.
  15. Jun 23, 2013
FUSE could have been awesome, but it's not. Graphics and sound are fine. Firefights are intense and you can take out enemies with stealth and melee kills. At times the story tries to give the characters some emotion and depth, but fails, and generally ends up half baked and confused.

If EA had any ambition with Fuse to get a new yearly incremental shooter, it needs to think again: Fuse has everything it needs... to make it an average and unmemorable TPS. There's nothing setting it aside of the mass of generic games from this genre.

A shooter that tastes like a McDonald's hamburger. It won't offend you, but it's nothing that would stand out. The only things that excel are its impressive weapons and four pals cooperation. [Issue#231]

My final thoughts of the game are... Pick up something better. There are way better titles that do this sort of gameplay all day long even in the bargain bin.

A wonderful co-op game, but only an average one on your own. [Issue#232, p.72]
  20. Jun 18, 2013
Fuse is a boring game that just so happens to be tolerable with friends. Aside from some idiotic AI, there's nothing necessarily wrong with the shooter – but it fails to ever do anything to justify its existence. If you have a group of buddies willing to commit to the experience, then you may find a glimmer of fun here. Otherwise, expect one long, dreary slog.
  21. May 28, 2013
There just isn’t enough top-quality goodness here to warrant a $60 purchase because really, one feels as if the developers were restricted. In short, they were too in love with the multiplayer idea.

Fuse is an exercise in mediocrity, pure and simple.
  23. 70
Fuse is a standard cooperative third person shooter developed by a top tier developer, but it is not a life altering experience or a game that will stand the test of time for years to come.
  24. Jul 2, 2013
Design-by-committee appears to have robbed Fuse of not only its former name and aesthetic, but also of any gameplay depth. It's a multiplatform misstep for Insomniac that will have Xbox owners wondering why that studio is so beloved in the first place.

Generic in most senses of the word, but still dumb fun with friends. [August 2013, p80]
  26. Sep 10, 2013
Fuse may have polished mechanics but that doesn’t change the fact that this is one of the most generic, anonymous and boring action games that has been released in the last few years. The “creative” weapons feel like an afterthought and the co-op is repetitive and dull. Playing Fuse alone is the definition of pointless.
  27. Jun 2, 2013
Fuse seems like it took the template for a co-op shooter and forgot to take the time to modify that template to give the game a soul. Much like the title of the game, Fuse is generic and easily forgotten.
  28. Jun 12, 2013
Fuse is packed with action, sadly of the average kind. At times the co-op makes you forget the stale gunplay and lack of real progression, but in single-player Fuse has little to offer an experienced gamer.
  29. Jul 1, 2013
Fuse is so poor by Insomniac’s usually high standards that it’s hard to believe Insomniac actually made it.
  30. Jun 28, 2013
Insomniac has tried to create something different compared to their previous games. But in doing so, they created a third person shooter that lacks personality, and therefore looks and feels like every other game in the genre. It still offers a lot of fun, though.
  31. May 28, 2013
Making a group of enemies disappear in a chain of miniature black holes with your Warp Rifle is ridiculous. More important, it’s ridiculously entertaining.

Ironically, the cover with the main cast's faces cut out of the picture represents the overall feel of Fuse perfectly: the weapons steal the show in this personality-lacking game. Those who crave for a fresh co-op experience will have some fun, but not for long. [July 2013, p.82]
  33. May 27, 2013
None of this really excuses the banality of Fuse itself, which is missing the larger-than-life set pieces that might make the campaign pop, nor the redundancy of the gameplay, which gives you all these cool weapons only to have you do the same thing with them over and over again, regardless of whether you're on a space station or an underwater research facility.
  34. May 29, 2013
Fuse is two games. As a four-player co-op shooter with friends, it's light, frothy fun that ticks along at remarkable pace with inventive weaponry. On your own, the AI of your team-mates drags the entire experience down and kills the fun.
  35. There’s nothing remarkable about it – it feels like a game we’ve seen a hundred times before. At this point in the evolution of games and of this generation of consoles in particular, that sort of mere serviceability just isn’t enough to impress.

Would give it a 10 just to cancel out the idiots giving it a 0. It's a 8.5 but giving it a 9 because I'm enjoying it more than most overWould give it a 10 just to cancel out the idiots giving it a 0. It's a 8.5 but giving it a 9 because I'm enjoying it more than most over visualized checkpoint shooters.

Graphically it doesn't feel near next gen, but it's a solid and enjoyable game with a constant frame rate and decent effects for something that seems co-op orientated. Story seems very long compared to recent industry norm 3-5 hour eye-candy extravaganzas, you just need to see past the somewhat dated game engine.

It's an arcade game. Doesn't take itself seriously at all and something you can play around kids of a reasonable age without the worry of constant swearing and persistent sexual innuendos/nudity. There are enough big bangs to keep you entertained, special abilities (invisibility, deployable shields) and custom character melee executions. Usual corny script writing at times, but it's delivered in a professional manner and fits with the feel of the game.

There's no real competitive MP which is a bit of a downer, but it holds it's own with persistent drop-in drop-out co-op in both SP and horde modes... and there's splitscreen on top of that (4 players on 2 consoles). Framerate has been solid so far, though there's sometimes a bit of a stutter when players drop in and out.

There's plenty to unlock with 4 characters to level up, team bonuses to unlock and weapon/armor skins. It'll keep me going for a few weeks anyway. There seem to be rewards for exploring SP maps like XP and gold, but haven't found a need to look for them as it's all rewarded by playing the game normally.

Fuse was an adequate game. Not the best solo campaign and that horde style is useless playing alone. Probably best to play with friendsFuse was an adequate game. The characters can be interesting for humor and back-story but are definitely not the most developed, but you can learn to care for them and their personalities.
Gameplay is tight, addictive, fun, and well-polished. It feels great and the character specific weapons are incredibly fun to use, especially when you combine them. The weaker standard weapons that can be used by everyone aren't as pleasing and you will have to use them quite a bit as ammo runs out for the Fuse weapons. Some either don't have kick or enough damage. Besides the Daybreaker I tried to stay away from them as much as possible. The horde mode is only fun with friends and provides a little more replay value.
Graphics aren't everything and Fuse isn't going to blow you away, I do prefer the new change over the original since it allows for a cartoony theme and some serious emotion.
The Story is not gritty or over the top emotional, and it isn't something your going to remember for years to come.
This is a pretty good that I seriously recommend buying if you looking to have a good time. I hope they release DLC that adds a new multiplayer game mode or story addition. I really hope this game gets sequel and people aren't blinded by the fact that EA published the game. They aren't evil!
I would give this an 8.5 but there are no half points.
