Hunted could really have used another couple of passes just to tighten things up, but what's here is perfectly playable. There are a lot of puzzles and secrets, multiple endings, a design-your-own-dungeon mode, and two different playable characters who fight in entirely different ways. This isn't a bad game, but it's one that could be vastly improved.

A game with good ideas and a great cooperative experience, although it is not that polished and has some minor flaws in control and design. A mediocre title when played solo, but great when played with a friend.

I can certainly think of worse ways to spend your time, but that list would pale in comparison to the staggeringly long catalogue of better ways.

  1. I would advise caution as to buying this game not because i feel it is bad or anything but it is clearly not for everyone. As with Two Worlds Two there will be a certain crowd who will appreciate this game and a certain crowd who will quickly judge it within 2 minutes and say it is garbage. Ok, on to the review: This game is as much about the atmosphere as anything. It is rather old school in design and the reward of this game is much the same as LA Noire and Heavy Rain. By that I mean that the gameplay isn't the most memorable part of this game it is the unknown which lurks ahead of you that gives this game its glory. To fully enjoy you really do need a good friend who you can mesh with, in other words someone who thinks with the same mentality as you and you easily work co-op with together. A lot of the fun is the intuition of the tag team hunting coupled within hidden areas and puzzles. In that respect this is a brilliant game but you need a good partner for sure. Ok, there is some bad that needs to be addressed to. The graphics are not the best, they are worse at the title screen and get better withing the game. Same goes for the music. It's a little rough until you enter the game. The save system also could have used a lot more attention. After playing co-op with a friend we are both confused whether it is possible to quit and restart mid level or if you have to start from the chapter beginning again. Overall, the game has a Resident Evil 5 feel and when they call this game role playing it is in the sense of the classic definition of feeling as if you were one of the characters, not so much that it is based on stat adjustments. I personally like the game but think this will be hit and miss with a wild range of review scores. One thing i should add is the game has a mode called crucible which you can build you own levels. These features are tremendously underrated and with a little effort you can produce the game you want so please take that into consideration. Overall a really nice package but one in which the player will have to maybe put some effort into appreciating. Expand

  2. This game is more of a 6.5. I understand not every studio has a massive budget for top of the line graphics. However we aren't talking about a clever game like minecraft either. On this generation systems, we must hold game developers accountable for less than average graphics. Graphics aren't important to me in the context of a game like Minecraft, Nintendo (old), Playstation 1 and 2 and games under 20 dollars. However there is no excuse for graphics this poor. Giving them a 5 wouldn't be harsh. Now if a game has graphics this bad, it MUST make up for it with a great story, gameplay, great voice acting and It also must be fun. Hunted succeeded and missed in these areas. The voice acting is amazing. The story is pretty decent, the co op is also fun, however the gameplay very simple. Too simple. It gets old very quickly and I love hack and slash games. After reading a in depth preview of this game and Dungeon Siege III, I elected this game due to the ability to create your own dungeons. It's not as great as it sounds. While Dungeon Siege III has a chance to score no better. Right now if you are staving for a Fantasy, action, rpg ect. I'd say maybe pass on this game, unless you are a extremely old school lover of fantasy, action and RPGs. Most people should get Dungeon Siege III over this. While your waiting for Lord of the Rings: War of the north, Dark Souls and Skyrim. This game isn't for everyone. I did like it to some degree. However it isn't worth the money. If Dungeon Siege III isn't for you either, try investing money and time into the Witcher series if you haven't done so and if you have a good PC. Right now you can get the original remastered for 20 dollars. It beats the hell out of this game and it is almost 5 years old. Closing: Yes this game has a good story, yes the characters are very good. However as a game it has more bad things going for it than good. The graphics blur the background and it's almost like watching a VHS movie. The game play is boring and this is coming from someone who loves hack and slash. If you wanted a good fantasy story alone, they start at 0.99 cents on kindle. Who wants to pay 59.99 dollars for a story alone. Try out the witcher series if you have a good PC, start with the older one. You can get it for 20 bucks. Save some money for a better game with better graphics. If you don't have a good PC, pick up dungeon siege instead. I can only, suggest this game to someone who is a old school fantasy fan, who is starving for a co op. If you keep your expectations down, and can get past the graphics. It can be fun. Still can't justify the price though. Expand

  3. I was expecting a great fantasy action/rpg game but it's not this the case: Hunted is very boring and repetitive, the graphic is old, very old-gen, the animations are chunky and there are very few numbers of moves and combo. The magics are realized in a very bad way, they don't seems powerful and they don't look cool...The skills are very limited, the Rpg side of the game is very poor...But most of all you can't switch between the 2 characters whenever you want, you can switch only when you find a kind of purple stone...so if choose the wrong hero you have to keep it until the next check-point/stone or reload the check-point...what a stupid system is this!! The dialogues are ridiculous (the warrior is afraid of the insects!!! and the elf seems talks like an erotic line...This game is ugly, is not funny and it's not worth your money...this is not a game to sell out in 2011, that's all! (sorry for my bad English anyway :)!) Expand
