  • Summary: MLB 08 The Show promises to provide fans with the most realistic baseball experience to date with innovations such as a more immersive Road to The Show mode, enabling gamers to play both offense and defense from the created player’s perspective. Providing players with some additional performance incentives, the MLB franchise introduces the new Progressive Batting Performance feature, which both rewards players for superior performance and penalize them for hitting slumps. Specific to each individual batter, players are rewarded with slight contact bonuses, or punished with slight decreases in contact, based on how that batter that performs beyond his "natural ability" while under user control. Adding to the online feature set, which includes customizable Online League Play with up to 30 teams, scrolling MLB Score Ticker and more, MLB 08 The Show introduces SCOUT (SportsConnect Online User Tracking), which allows gamers to set and store their game preferences on the MLB server, and enables the system to look for a Quick Match with opponents that fits similar competitive criteria. 1. The players are all modeled with such care and effort that it will make your jaw drop. The clothes will ripple when the pitcher raises his leg mid-throw, and dirt will cake on the uniforms of the players who have made a few diving saves in the infield.
  2. If the online play gets up and running, there’s no doubt that the game should be rated an ‘A’. You could even make a case for it as a system seller for any baseball fan—MLB The Show is just that good.
  3. 90
It's a near-perfect baseball package, sporting a barrel full of improvements from last season, gorgeous animations, solid online support, and the most compelling single-player mode you could ever ask for.
  4. Its career mode, Road to the Show 2.0 will keep you busy for months, while additions to offline and online modes greatly enhance the game's replay value. It's so good, you'll play it right up to next year's edition.
  5. Some days you'll blow the computer out, while other days you'll be battling to the last pitch. Each game offers something new, something that will surprise you, making MLB 08 one of the most enjoyable sports games you'll play this year.
  6. It seems like Sony paid too much attention to detail in the small areas and forgot why a lot of people buy baseball games: home run derby and other mini-games.
  7. 60
The game is the pretty much the same as last year, but with a more updated roster. If you purchased last year’s title, this game is not worth forking over another 60 bucks for the same experience.

The difference from last years the show and this one is amazing. Everything from the graphics, to the gameplay has been improved. It is easily the best sports game i have ever bought. When you get bored with the franchise mode switch over and play road to the show. Expand

Best baseball game on the PS3! I used to think "The Bigs" was the best, but it didn't have a season simulation like The Show 08 does. Graphics are excellent and the pitching mechanics are superb. Expand

This game is by far the best baseball game ever to grace a console tus far. Featuring more customizations, game modes, variety, stat tracking than you can shake a stick at! presentation and graphics are super slick and realistic! I can't ask for more from a baseball game. I play in a summer and fall baseball league and use this game as additional training. Easily should receive between 8.5 to 9.0 and probably should be between 9.0 to 9.4! G4 Tv IS must have reviewed this game with blindfolds on to give it 60!!!! Next up... Photo realistic baseball simulator!!! Expand

Their is still to many bugs especially with fielding and those damn lazy animations. hitting seems somewhat pre-determined , right on the sweet part of the barrel and I ground out hard. Get jammed and its a homerun. Graphics during night games are very unimpressive. And its still way better than MLB2K8. Mvp 2005 still has the best pitcher/batter physics and it was fun. Its a video game make it fun. But we get boring and buggy. Expand
