If you can't tell from this glowing review, let me come out and say it plainly: I LOVE MotorStorm Apocalypse. The game is an absolute blast and a top-class production. Evolution has created the total package, from addicting and fun gameplay to incredible track design... it's all here. The MotorStorm series finally has it's "great" game...
Like Test Drive Unlimited 2 before it the cutscenes in Apocalypse are universally terrible. The obviously deliberate digital comic approach feels cheap too, making the sequences feel like placeholders for real animation that never eventuated. It's all a bit childish, really, and features the worst approximation of a foreign accent since Christopher Lambert tried to sound like a Scotsman in Highlander. You'll know it when you hear it. We do question why Evolution bothered devoting manpower to the story mode and we'd be happy not to see it again. Fortunately, players will spend far more time playing Apocalypse than they will do with awful cutscenes. The racing is still furious and fun – and that's always the main thing. [May 2011 p.74]
The over-the-top racing game, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, convinces with its spectacular concept. The game definitely shines as a multiplayer game, whether it's splitscreen or online. It's too bad though, that it doesn't play as well as its predecessor and the artificial intelligence of your opponents and arbitrary crashes will get your blood pressure to rise significantly from time to time.
Motorstorm: Apocalypse is all about explosions, chaos and crumbling structures. Unfortunetly, the actual driving and the physics haven't been updated at all since the first game, almost five years ago, and this feels both old and unfinished.
Absolutely the best arcade racing game. I will explain why :
Every game no matter how deep it is, is based on a series of challenges. The key to guarantee a good gaming experience is to make sure that the gamer's goal should not be playing those challenges, but should be going through the campaign without noticing any repetition. Evolution studios has nailed that part through a lot of varied elements. It is based on a light and funny story to dominate a city in which an apocalypse is coming. The events are told in the form of comics motion. The gameplay is the best amongst all the motorstorm titles. They fixed the floating cars handling without ruining it. The graphics are insane especially the effects of the angry apocalypse. The tracks are well done and the variation of the environments is phenomenal . They extended the motorstorm experience through a 150 collectible cards which contain a brief story of motorstorm characters or locations. An other winning part is the possibility to customize everything as we used to do in the previous titles and more. All of that surrounded by a magnificent soundtrack list. Well I highly recommend it for everyone.
Com certeza o ponto forte do jogo é o multiplayer online...bastante divertido, nada melhor do que em uma corrida online um cenário sendo destruído por todos os lados...recomendo.
A very poor effort in the context of the Motorstorm series. Despite the plethora of options and vehicle customisations, the je ne sais quoi of the franchise is completely lost MS:A. They removed the good - natural themes, track deformation, beautiful vistas - added the bad - generic post-apocalyptic cities, tracks fraught with distracting 'junk', a half-assedly implemented 3D functionality (it doesn't work in split-screen and has copious 'cross-talk') - and exacerbated what already need fixing - the 'floaty'race physics, über cheesy AI, lack of coöp-able campaign play. All in all, this is a very disappointing MS game; although an okay-ish arcade racer in its own right. 4/10
