Quest for Booty is a shallow extension of Tools of Destruction. The core of what makes the Ratchet and Clank games great is still there and still I recommend this for any R&C fan. Where old R&C fans will be disappointed is there is very little gameplay beyond the first play through and said gameplay is very linear. There are almost no hidden collectibles besides a few weapon power-ups. Gone is the ability to revisit levels to find hidden bolts or earn skill points. Expand

Everything that makes Ratchet and Clank great is still here in this bite-sized portion. The humor, the great characters, the voice acting and of course, the fun! It's a short adventure, but it's great if you just want some classic R&C action without having to commit to a 20 hour quest. Very highly recommended, to fans and newcomers alike.

I like it more than Tools of Destruction and Tool of Destruction was also my game of 2007. Gameplay is AWESOME and the new gameplay elements fit perfectly with the theme. Graphics are amazing once again and music is better than before. You can choose your difficulty level between easy and hard. When you have beaten the game you can do it again and find extra weapon upgrades. Needs only 2.3GB in USA and 3.2 in Europe. Not bad for a very short game. Its pretty much some simple puzzles with new ways to use your wrench. the next full blooded R&C should be all tools of destruction was and more with these few new additions.

For a downloadable game, this is the best you'll get. It is a little shorter than I thought but that's very minimal in what Insomniac accomplished. In a game that looks incredible, a more of a puzzle strategy to the game, and was a 2nd priority to Resistance 2, that is pretty jaw dropping. This is what the doctor ordered for the Ratchet and Clank fans to get over that **spoiler** cliffhanger of an ending. Expand

Extremely high production values, not as good as Tools of Destruction, but well worth your time if your a Ratchet fan (or a platformer fan).

A solid outing for the lombax, but it doesn't quite match the full game in terms of enjoyment. Quest for booty is more platform oriented than running and gunning oriented. The game does look just as nice as ToD. However the game doesn't translate well into a 4 hour downloadable game compared to a full game. Overall not a bad game and very pleasing at places, but will not fill your apatite for ratchet and clank. I give this 7.5 (fans of the series will also enjoy the ending). Expand

Gameplay is great, Platforming, Puzzles and Beating up the bad guys! It may be short, but its a great addition to the series of Ratchet and Clank.

Without question the worst-ever installment of the series. Beyond the astonishing brevity of the game, large sections of the game are played almost completely in the dark, where you can't see anything at all. The story is pointless, the weapons are utterly boilerplate for a Ratchet game (and almost completely generic even for any other game), it has almost no humor or charm, and again, the object manipulation and "light/dark" gameplay is so tedious and awful, it ruins the game. The last level prior to the final battle is one of the worst levels I've ever seen, in more than 25 years of gaming. It's awful. Just awful, from top to bottom. I loved the first five games, but this one has no redeeming value at all. Between this, and the equally awful Resistance 2, I'm rapidly losing faith in Insomniac. I really don't want to - I loved Ratchet, and I really hope that a Crack in Time just pretends this pile of garbage never existed at all. Expand

You have to approach this game knowing that its only going to be 3 hrs long to begin with. Thats what a lot of people have a problem with; its too short. Its not an entire R&C game, its simply a small side-tale about the Zoni and Clank's mysterious disappearance. Thats it. Any fan of the R&C games, or even Tools of Destruction alone, will like this game. Just dont sit down expecting an adventure thats gonna last forever cause if you know what you're in for then there is absolutely nothing wrong with Quest for Booty. Expand

I played this at a friend's house. It seemed somehow shallow and empty. I know it's just a 3 hour game, but it was not fun the way the other R&C's are.

Wow this game was short. i expected a lot more out of Insomniac for this series. The game looks great and is always enjoyable, but the puzzles were too simple and the diversity (even for a Ratchet and Clank game) was minimal. Maybe $10!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite being one of the shortest games I've ever played, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty is very amazing and amusing. It has incredible graphics, great game play and a funny and interesting plot. But still. Too short, so that's why I'm giving it 8 :) Expand

Being a great follower of the series, I was anxious to see where Insomniac were taking the R&C series this time. However, this game just felt like a money grabbing exercise from them - giving users just another Ratchet and Clank game. There really seems to be nothing new here. This may have been released as an expansion level to 'Tools of Destruction', maybe then it would have gone down better. As a standalone title, this just seems to be an average shovel-load of a half-hearted Ratchet and Clank experience. Expand

Quest for Booty is not exactly a game by itself; it is more a bridge between Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time. It has recycled gameplay and weapons from the last game in the series, and is not shy to admit it. Still, it is a great game and a cheap test-drive for those who are on the fence about the Ratchet & Clank series. It is fun, the graphics are colorful and the soundtrack is brilliant (with many Pirates of the Caribbean tweaked tracks). And the pirate theme really works for the series. Progression is pretty different from the series' standards: there is nothing to buy, nothing to evolve: you just go through the game enjoying the story and getting answers on the mysterious end of Tools of Destruction. And in the end you get a nice surprise. Quest for Booty feels more like an extension of the previous game than a game by itself, but it's still a very fun and well-built experience. Expand

Ratchet & clank: quest for booty is great, really great, but...it's practically the same as its predecessor, and its a bit worse than its predecessor too. Its still a really good game with nice graphics, a comedic script and unique 3rd-person shooter/plat-former/action-adventure/(very loosely) roll playing game play. I want to give it a 9, but its not quite good enough.

Nothing particularly wrong with it but it suffers terribly from its length, as most games like this do. It is merely an add on for Tools of Destruction, a masterpiece, so it was going up against tough competition. If only it had been a serious and long game, then they may have been able to integrate better and newer mechanics than stick with the old formula.

Quest for Booty has been designed as a quick four-hour experience and it feels shortchanged because of it. Though its shooting and platforming sequences are fun and of high production, it still seems like there's something missing.
  2. 75
Quest for Booty's a fine addition to the Ratchet & Clank world, but what should've been a love letter to fans ends up serving better as a taste of what outsiders are missing -- and, as a fan, that makes me just a little bit sad.
  3. Though Quest for Booty, again, isn't a bad game, it's not a good Ratchet game, and in the end that makes for a slightly disappointing and possibly even overpriced offering. With zero replay value and only a few new tricks, this Quest isn't worth taking.
