  • Summary: [Dowloadable Content] Demons of the Badlands features a new single-player story arc that takes place in a new environment not covered by the original game's open world.

  1. All the fun of the original squeezed into an all-action and generally more enjoyable expansion.
  2. It’s worth it just to spend a little more time on Mars with some bombs and some high powered lasers, just don’t expect anything drastically new.
  3. This downloadable prologue is a bit barren, but it still packs a delightfully destructive punch.

Great fun, if a little throwaway. [Issue#184, p.85]
  5. In short, the expansion feels sort of like the modern Castlevania standby in "Richter Mode" wherein a jaunt with a new character involves a far simplified gameplay mechanic. However, the relevant thing to remember is that Demons of the Badlands not only simplifies the gameplay--but also the area it's in.
  6. A golden opportunity to really expand on the back story of Mars pre-Guerrilla feels tragically wasted here.

It's short and nice but not worth the $10 price tag. Being in the prequel is good because you get to see things from a new point of view. Too bad it isn't tied into the main map as it's a standalone. I'd wait til it drops a few bucks before spending my hard earned cash on this DLC. Expand
