Feb 14, 201171Spare Parts actually is a 2D jump'n'run with an additional third dimension. The bad camera work spoils the whole fun and the coop mode. Apart from that, the atmosphere, sound and gameplay are pretty well done and also proper for younger gamers.

Mar 24, 201160No more than a rusty, slightly warped clone of the Lego games. [Apr 2011, p.101]
-
Feb 3, 201160Spare Parts is a very simple game, aimed to the younger audience, which will like the design and charm of its characters. Taking into account the audience of the game, we miss some more help in certain puzzles of final bosses, as some players might get stuck.

Jan 24, 201160As disappointing as Spare Parts is, I hope that we do see the characters again. They deserve to be in a better game.

Mar 13, 201159So-so gameplay. [Apr 2011, p.91]

Feb 7, 201158Frustratingly, there is a perfectly good game lost in there somewhere. It should be a polished, sleek and enjoyable ride. But, the whole things plays like such a rusty old clunker that if you found it on the side of the road, wouldn't even be worth breaking up and selling for spare parts.

Apr 6, 201150After two Harry Potter games, Trivial Pursuit and Create, developers of EA Bright Light confirmed to be anything but brilliant. The entire management of the three dimensions in Spare Parts is terrible and makes the exploration of the stages "slippery" and cumbersome, with hundreds of invisible barriers and obstacles. When it comes to fighting, things get even worse due to some imprecise collisions and a lack of variety. The online multiplayer is also poorly implemented.
-
Mar 17, 201150Sloppy. Lazy. Derivative. That sums up Spare Parts, from its level and character design to the actual coding. [April 2011, p.80]
-
Mar 17, 201150Feel free to scrap this short, bland adventure. [April 2011, p.75]
-
Feb 9, 201150Spare Parts has a good concept and a clumsy realization. The idea is nice but the big number of technical problems transform a potentially good experience in a missed opportunity.
-
Feb 3, 201150Spare Parts has all the right ingredients to be a great puzzle adventure game but never doesn't stand out above the competition in any way. Simon Pegg tries very hard to keep the game interesting with his witty remarks but it's just too little too late.
-
Feb 23, 201148The idea of Spare Parts is pretty fun, but the way you have to play it doesn't really work. The camera is extremely annoying and the game is way too short. The coöp feature doesn't work and graphically the game is poor.
-
Jan 29, 201146Maddeningly obtuse design more often than not makes Spare Parts an exercise in irritation rather than fun.
-
Jan 26, 201145Imprecise controls and repetitive gameplay hampers this downloadable cooperative adventure.
-
Jan 25, 201145Spare Parts is a game with a fun premise and solid ideas, but the execution of that premise and those ideas are, at best, entirely muddled.
