  • Summary: New York City has been invaded and only Spider-Man can save it. The fate of New York is in your hands...Take Control. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows gives you an unprecedented level of gameplay choice, including, for the first time, control over the game's direction and outcome. 1. Web of Shadows assembles a great cast of heroes and villains, combines them with a fantastic story, and integrates an intuitive and exciting control scheme and evolving combat system that easily makes this the best Spider-Man game ever made to date for any system.
  2. It may not offer quite as big an initial thrill as Spider-Man 2 did, but Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is probably the best web-swinging adventure so far. With a swing mechanic that rivals the one found in SM2, a combat system that easily trumps any in the series, and solid presentation throughout, fans of the series and the character won’t be disappointed.
  3. You don’t have to be a Spidey fan to enjoy this one. Good fighting, fluid web swinging and exciting boss battles make this game enjoyable. I won’t say it’s a must buy, but it’s definitely a must try.

The animation is slick, and there are many appreciable smaller touches, but it's also tarnished by repetition and technical issues. If you've never been a fan of the series, this installment certainly won't change your mind. However, if you're a die-hard fan who was disappointed by Spider-Man 3, Web of Shadows should be right up your alley.

While it isn't the ultimate Spiderman title that gamers have been clamouring for, Spiderman: Web of Shadows provides gamers with a slice of web-slinging fun.
  6. Web of Shadows opens strong, but it seems like it runs out of interesting and varied ways to put them to use well before you get to the end, and it turns into a bit of a grind.
  7. Half-arsed superhero rubbish. [Christmas 2008, p.119]

Like Spider-Man himself, this game was absolutely amazing. The combat was fluid and web swinging was almost perfect (it stuck to the sky most of the time). Venom was awesome and I enjoyed fighting him seeing as he is my favorite Spidey villain. I love switching between the red and black suit whenever I want. If only Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus were in this game. Expand

Pros: fun gameplay, city is huge, web-swinging is fun, good story. Cons: not exactly deep, repetitive combat, running is too sharp, city is boring, bad graphics, weak cutscenes. OVERALL: enjoyable in parts but once you finish the game you have to start a new file. and there should be more things to do in the city. Expand

The best thing to do in this game is by far the swinging around. It's fluid, responsive and looks good, animations are top notch. There's more moves to pull of such as wall running, crawling sliding etc it's all good... That is until the glitches kick in, and completely ruin the experience. You can be soaring through the air at breakneck speed, only for Spidey to come to an instant stop in mid-air, witness his world load before him, then drop down vertically. Other times, he may just disappear altogether requiring a restart or load. Levelling up is incredibly easy. Unfortunately, it requires you to collect 2000 tokens around the city and it's boring, but makes the game better once it's finally done.
Combat is pretty good, nothing major though still the best in Spidey games so far. Red or black suits have different moves.
Voice Acting is rubbish (except Black Cat) and the story is dull with basic red or black suit choices. Basically, it's a decent game. Best Spidey game anyway.

The good is that thisgame has a Spider-man that is the most fluid in combat that I've ever seen. The bad is that it takes awhile to get there because you have to be taught by Luke Cage (I know, very stupid) to unlock your powers. Once you have ever thing down pat to make you an ultimate bad ass spider-man, you get to play a weak story and extremely repetitious breaking up of gangs and then symbiotic creatures from outer-space. Possibly the worst voice acting in a video game this decade. Expand

While being innovative, lacks variaety and has tons of glitches and bugs,is not fun and you will be tired of pressing the botton.

    -Take paths.
    -Lots of combos....

    -Which are useless.
    -Bugs and glitches
    -Dull story and camera
